Job description

Stand Together is a philanthropic community that helps America's boldest changemakers tackle the root causes of our country'sย biggest problems, from education to the economy, broken communities, and toxic division, among dozens of other pressing issues. We provide our partners with access to resources including funding, thought leadership, a network of peers, and a playbook for applying proven principles to transform lives and society.ย

ย

As a Writerย onย the Grassrootsย Editorial Team,ย you'llย play a key role inย craftingย clear, concise, andย compelling communications thatย empower millions of people across the country toย advocate forย policy changes that get results.ย ย

You'll write across platforms for Stand Together and key partners like Americans for Prosperity (AFP), AFP Action, The LIBRE Initiative, and Concerned Veterans for America, helping to drive societal change through effective storytelling that emphasizes aligning the keyย institutions of government to their proper roles.ย

This role requiresย 3+ years of relevant experience inย grassrootsย politicsย or political communications,ย including elections-related work. The ideal candidate canย translate complex ideas into clear narratives and a strong understanding ofย toneย and audience. (Additionalย political or issue-advocacyย experience is a plus.)ย ย ย ย

You'llย need to be entrepreneurial, feedback-friendly, results-oriented, and have a strong eye for accuracy and brevity.ย Youย mustย alsoย demonstrateย a clear understanding of the political andย electoralย landscapeย andย our diverse stakeholders' nuanced messaging, while continually honing your craft.ย

How You Will Contribute
  • Write high-impact content,ย including emails, blog posts, direct mail, reports, and event communications that inspire grassroots advocates and donor audiences.ย

  • Developย contentย that clearly conveys Standย Together'sย and AFP's perspectivesย on key issues like elections, the economy, health care, immigration, and the role of government.ย

  • Collaborate effectivelyย with a self-driven, entrepreneurial mindsetย to develop strategic content forย key initiatives, often on tight deadlines.ย

  • Adapt to evolving prioritiesย with a self-driven, entrepreneurial mindset andย a commitmentย to results.ย

What You Will Bring
  • 3+ years of experience in elections, grassroots politics, or political communications, with the ability to understand the political landscape, translate complex ideas clearly, and tailor messages for different audiences.ย ย
  • 5+ years of professional writing experience, preferably in grassroots politics,ย journalism, or political communications, including elections-related work,ย with excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills, and aย strong attention to detail.ย

  • Proven ability to simplify complex policy and strategic conceptsย into compelling, audience-tailored narratives across formats and platforms, aligned with brand voice and content strategy.ย

  • A collaborative, cross-functional mindset, with experience navigating fast-paced, matrixed environments, defining deliverables, managing competing priorities, and consistently meeting deadlines.ย

  • Strategic insight and entrepreneurial drive, with a deep understanding of the state and federal policy landscape, and the ability to connect daily writing tasks to long-term organizational impact.ย

  • Enthusiasm to contribute to Standย Together'sย vision and principled approachย to solving problems, and a commitment to stewardingย our culture, which champions values including transformation and innovation, entrepreneurialism, humility, and respect.ย  ย

What We Offer
  • Competitive benefits:ย Enjoy a 6% 401(k) match with immediate vesting, flexible time off, comprehensive health and dental plans, plus wellness and mental health support through Peloton and Talkspace.ย

  • A meaningful career:ย Join a passionate community of over 1,300 employees dedicated to improving lives and driving innovative solutions to complex social challenges.ย

  • Commitment to growth:ย Thrive in a non-hierarchical environment that empowers employees to discover, develop and apply their unique talents.ย

  • Competitive compensation:ย Our approach rewards the value you create through competitive salaries and bonus opportunities, allowing you toย share inย the success you help drive.ย

$75,000 - $100,000 a year

For this role, the anticipated base salary range is $75,000-$100,000 per year. This role may also be eligible for additional bonus compensation designed to align total compensation with an employee's overall contribution to the organization.ย

Our Principles-Based Management (PBM) compensation philosophy is grounded in an individualized approach that rewards the long-term value each person creates for the organization. Compensation decisions are informed by a variety of factors, including relevant experience, capabilities,ย demonstratedย skills, role responsibilities, and expected contribution. Consistent with this approach, base salary may vary within or outside of theย anticipatedย range based on these considerations.ย

Our Values:ย Working for an organization within the Stand Together philanthropic community is different from many other places. The culture is deeply rooted in Principle Based Management (PBM), a framework guided by the principles that drive human progress, such as dignity, openness, and bottom-up empowerment. PBM empowers employees to be entrepreneurial, to innovate, and to continually drive transformation. ย ย
ย
We believe diversity fuels creativity, broadens knowledge, and helps drive success. ย That is why we're proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer and strive to treat all employees and applicants with honesty, dignity, and respect.
