The Motorola Solutions Demand Planning team plays a critical role in the global supply chain, ensuring that the company can meet the needs of its customers around the world. The team's primary responsibility is to create and manage the global demand plan for Motorola Solutions' diverse portfolio of products. The team works to anticipate the needs of a wide range of customers, from first responders who depend on essential devices like two-way radios and the supporting network infrastructure, to enterprises that utilize video security products like body-worn cameras, video management software, and AI-powered analytics. This requires a deep understanding of market trends, product lifecycles, and regional sales forecasts to ensure that all products are available when and where they're needed. Demand planning is also highly cross-functional. The team collaborates with many different teams to create a unified demand signal that is a critical input to the company's Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) cycle, which is used to align business functions and drive strategic decision-making.
Job Description
The Supply Chain Data Analyst Intern will have the opportunity to manage a portion of a Demand Analyst portfolio, which offers real-time experience in demand planning activities. The intern will also be responsible for executing daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly reporting to assist the planning organization as well as perform analyses and assist with projects cross-functionally within the broader supply chain organization. In addition, the SC Data Analyst Intern will be expected to complete a summer project that focuses on a specific deliverable with measurable benefit to the business. The summer program will conclude with a presentation of the summer project to MSI executives and senior leaders.
Preferred Skills:
  • Analytical and Quantitative Skills: comfortable with numbers, data analysis, and statistical concepts and should be able to interpret data, identify trends, and use this information to build forecasts
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel: A strong command of Excel is essential. This includes using functions like VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, SUMIFS, and creating charts and reports to analyze large datasets.
  • Communication Skills: clearly and concisely present findings, explain methodology, and collaborate effectively with non-technical stakeholders. Both written and verbal communication are critical.
  • Attention to Detail: Demand planning involves working with large amounts of data, where small errors can have a significant impact. An intern must be meticulous and detail-oriented to ensure accuracy in their work.
  • Problem-Solving: The intern should be able to approach challenges with a logical and structured mindset, helping to identify root causes of forecasting errors and proposing solutions.
  • Time management: Ability to prioritize work between daily tasks, summer project, and other intern projects in an effective manner
  • Teamwork: Ability to work effectively in a team setting to make decisions and drive results
