Role Description:
Public policy issues affecting the animal health sector have grown significantly in our priority markets and around the globe. Active leadership, evaluation, and engagement in the political and regulatory sphere have become a necessity in today's competitive and challenging environment.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
The primary responsibility for the newly created role will be to support the Head of U.S. Federal & State Affairs in the company's political outreach and engagement with policymakers and allied stakeholders; oversee the operations of Zoetis' political action committee (PAC); and draft policy and advocacy messaging and content. The professional will work with internal colleagues, trade associations, and third-party stakeholders to advocate favorable policy and regulatory outcomes on behalf of the company.

The individual in this role must be a strong writer and communicator who is able to think strategically and provide thoughtful counsel pertinent to a range of policy issues. The role will be responsible for drafting advocacy materials including messaging, issue papers, executive briefing materials, and other content which will be used to advocate with policymakers and educate Zoetis colleagues.

KEY TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Authors and develop communications for several audiences: policymakers, colleagues, customers, management, and senior executives (e.g., executive briefings), including with different digital tools and formats.
  • Partners w/ Public Affairs colleagues on internal policy and PAC communications to promote colleague education, fundraising, and engagement.
  • Participates in cross-functional teams including colleagues within Regulatory, Medical, R&D, Legal, and Commercial.
  • Manages Zoetis PAC and the requisite fundraising and reporting responsibilities.
  • Manages projects effectively and efficiently, including assisting other team members as appropriate.
  • Externally collaborates with key stakeholders, such as trade associations.
  • Track contributions, participation rates, and fundraising performance.
  • Manage PAC compliance requirements and recordkeeping.
  • Track political and legislative developments relevant to company priorities.


QUALIFICATIONS
PROFESSIONAL SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • ~5+years public affairs, communications and/or PAC management experience.
  • Experienced writer and communicator working with consultants.
  • Research and communication skillsets are required to enable development of advocacy briefs, materials, talking points, presentations, etc.
  • Policymaker scheduling experience.
  • Experience and comfort-level in interacting with and supporting senior executives.

LOCATIONS CONSIDERED

  • Washington, DC area.
  • Parsippany, NJ
  • Hybrid role - 50% onsite

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor's degree is required.

The U.S. base salary range for this full-time position is $82,000 to $118,000. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the base pay target range for new hire salaries for the position. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

This position is also eligible for short-term incentive compensation.
