Summary
Job Description:
The Hospital Security Department ensures a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, and staff. Our team monitors access points, patrols hospital grounds, and responds to emergencies while supporting hospital policies. Working with local law enforcement and hospital leadership, we provide safety, protection, and assistance with professionalism, compassion, and respect.
Security Officer
Full-Time, Days
Under the general supervision of the Director of Security, Manager, or Supervisor secures premises and personnel by patrolling property; monitoring surveillance equipment; inspecting buildings, equipment, and access points; permitting entry. Prevents losses and damage by reporting irregularities, informing violators of policy and procedures. Train new and current officers as assigned. Keeps Security supervisor informed of all issues, and potential problems. Assists Supervisor with special and assigned projects such as security assessments, events, administrative duties, etc. Ability to perform essential duties with limited supervision. Use non-violent crisis intervention when needed to deal with visitors, patients, families, and employees. Must be able to prioritize calls based on importance and multi-task efficiently.
Job Description:
  • Conducts investigations as needed and completes incident/investigation reports according to department policy and procedures.

  • Confronts suspicious/unauthorized people for questions.

  • Provides affirmative direction to unauthorized individuals or obtains police assistance depending on circumstances and department policy and procedure.

  • Checks cars to ensure appropriate parking and issues parking violations as appropriate.

  • Checks interior and exterior lighting and access routes to emergency entrances.

  • Takes corrective action when called for and assists in security and safety matters. Also ensures customer compliance with all department and hospital policies.

  • Complete all reports and logs on shift, reviewing all paperwork for accuracy and completeness prior to sending them to Supervisor, Security

  • Performs duties to include answering phone calls, dispatching calls for services to other security staff, coordinating actions of other security staff, monitoring CCTV, monitoring and responding to all alarms, controlling access to lost and found, signing out keys to authorized individuals, and making sound decisions regarding the priority of calls.

Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent GED

  • Valid driver's license (no violations for 2 years)

  • Ability to achieve Basic Life Support, BLS certification within 30 days of hire

  • Must obtain Taser/CEW, De-Escalation, Handcuffing, Defensive tactics within 6 months

  • Certified Healthcare Security officer (CHSO) with International Association of Healthcare Security and Safety certification within one year of employment.
