Creative Producer, Vox Media Podcast Network

New York, NY

Full-time

Posted 10 days ago

Job description

As the leading independent modern media company, Vox Media ignites conversations and influences culture. Across digital, podcasts, TV, streaming, live events, and print, we tell stories that affect our audience's daily lives and entertain as much as they inform.

Brand Studio is Vox Media's award-winning podcast ad production team. Our team of writers, storytellers, and producers create original content and experiences that connect brands with influential audiences across our 50+ podcasts and beyond. Brand Studio's work spans short and long-form advertisements across video, podcasts, explainers, social, experiential and more.

The Creative Producer for Podcast Advertising drives the creative vision for all assigned projects that involve host talent, from large-scale branded content campaigns to quick-turn scripts for hosts, from video to audio to social. We want our podcast advertising - particularly our host-driven advertising - to be as innovative, compelling and addictive as our editorial products so this role is for the person who lives and breathes copy and advertising; a seasoned writer and producer who wants to innovate, be creative, and get weird. This role is also for someone who is ultra-adaptive, able to shift between different voices, and organized. We win when our ads deliver on time and with creative no other network can offer.

A large part of this role is producing advertising copy so writing chops are a must, along with the ability to write for and capture the voices of various podcast hosts. The role is an exciting opportunity to work with a growing team to push the creative boundaries of the evolving podcast advertising world. The ideal candidate will be passionate about podcasting, have a clear understanding of the copy and ad production process, and have experience building great content for high-profile brands.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Liaise between the Brand Studio and Vox Media Podcast Network's editorial teams on host-read recordings and needs. Work closely with Brand Studio Production to initiate and implement systems while overseeing both pre and post-production of host-read ads. The most successful candidates will have a clear understanding that the responsibilities of this position will evolve, requiring agility, flexibility, organization and an open mind.

  • Write and revise scripts for daily ad production on tight deadlines.
  • Work cross-functionally with multiple stake-holder teams, from pre-sale to post, to execute best-in-class branded content.
  • Own end-to-end production of VMPN custom host-driven content including developing concept pitches, attending internal and external kick-offs with agencies and clients, developing project plans and timelines, managing approvals and feedback, and executing creative vision.
  • Work with Brand Studio team to come up with new/interesting host-read formats that can be worked into scripts or pitched as new products.
  • Gather creative assets including remote host read recording sessions, organizing tape syncs, interviewing, sourcing music and sound effects.
  • Exhibit grace under pressure while managing multiple concurrent projects including a mix of branded content and standard ad products.
  • Review all host read ads and provide prompt, constructive feedback to freelance writers.
  • Cast, schedule, and direct VO talent for both custom segments and daily ad production.
WHAT YOU'LL BRING
  • A Bachelor's Degree or 3+ years of experience in a similar role.
  • Copywriting chops. The ability to distill a client's story to its essence and convey it to listeners.
  • Familiarity with advertising, the branded content landscape and working with agencies and advertisers.
  • Experience managing creative projects with multiple internal and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Confident and kind communication with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Great writing skills. Some light audio engineering is a plus, but not required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Collaborative and creative spirit! This role is ever-evolving and growing, an openness is crucial.
  • Video/audio editing and light mixing a plus.
WHERE YOU'LL WORK

This is a New York based position.
