Job description

Humboldt Park Healthย is a safety-net hospital located in the Humboldt Park neighborhood of Chicago. We are dedicated to delivering high-quality, affordable, and compassionate healthcare services to the communities we serve.ย 

As a primary community healthcare provider, Humboldt Park Health focuses on treating and curing disease while promoting wellness through health education, prevention, and early intervention. Our 200-bed hospital provides inpatient acute care, emergency services, diagnostic services, and primary care. We also support the community through a full-service professional building, neighborhood clinics, and two mobile health units.

We are currently seeking a PMO Managerย to join our team!

Position Summary:ย 

The Project Management Office (PMO) Manager is a quality professional responsible for establishing, operationalizing, and managing Humboldt Park Health's enterprise-wide Performance Improvement Management Office within the Quality Department. This position serves as the central project management and performance improvement resource for hospital-wide initiatives that require structured project governance, cross-functional coordination, Lean Six Sigma methodology, performance measurement, accountability, risk management, and sustained change.

The PMO Manager will drive the operational change that converts the organizationโ€™s regulatory, safety, clinical, compliance, and analytics priorities into disciplined, measurable, enterprise-wide improvement work. The PMO Manager will serve as the central governance mechanism for enterprise performance improvement while preserving the subject-matter authority of Regulatory, Quality, Patient Safety, Compliance, Infection Prevention, Risk, Nursing, Analytics, and clinical leaders.

The PMO Manager will lead the organization's standardized approach for identifying, prioritizing, chartering, executing, monitoring, escalating, closing, and sustaining enterprise-wide performance improvement initiatives. The position serves as the primary project management lead for the Quality Department, partnering closely with the Vice President of Quality, departmental leadership, medical staff, nursing, clinical departments, operational departments, and other organizational leaders.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provides the methodology, structure, discipline, project governance, facilitation, measurement, and accountability infrastructure necessary to ensure that enterprise initiatives produce measurable and sustainable results.
  • Create a standardized PMO governance model that can be used consistently across clinical, operational, financial, regulatory, compliance, patient safety, and administrative initiatives.
  • Serve as the organization's central mechanism for enterprise performance improvement project management, lean six sigma deployment, quality improvement methodology, cross-functional project coordination, project prioritization and portfolio management.
  • Create and administer a formal process through which departments request PMO support.
  • Develop standardized processes for: project intake, project screening, project prioritization, project approval, project chartering, project planning, project team formation, stakeholder identification, baseline measurement, risk assessment, lean six sigma methodology selection, project execution, milestone tracking, escalation, executive, reporting, project closure, and sustainability monitoring.
  • Ensure that projects are appropriately mapped to applicable organizational priorities, regulatory requirements, accreditation standards, patient safety priorities, and strategic objectives.
  • Ensures performance measurement, corrective action tracking, sustainability monitoring, standardization of improvement practices, and demonstration of measurable improvement to CMS, IDPH, The Joint Commission, leadership, governing body, and other applicable oversight entities.
  • Remain current on regulatory changes and work with the Director of Regulatory Compliance to translate applicable regulatory requirements into measurable organizational action plans.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Adheres to downtime procedures.
  • Adheres to established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives.
  • Performs both essential and non-essential job functions in a safe manner as identified by Humboldt Park Health.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of and models the mission and core values of Humboldt Park Health.
  • Enhances professional growth and development by accessing educational programs, job related literature, in-service meetings, and workshops/seminars.
  • Checks hospital email daily.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Experience Required

  • Minimum of three years of progressive healthcare performance improvement, quality, project management, operations, or related experience.

Educational Requirements:

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in healthcare administration, business, project management, operations management, health information management, health informatics, or related field
  • Lean Six Sigma - Green Belt or higher
