Job description

Position Title: Plumber (Service Technician)

Reports to: Plumbing Department Manager

Pay Classification: Non-Exempt

Pay Type: Hourly

Summary

Plumber II inspects, repairs, installs, modifies, and maintains plumbing fixtures and piping in heating, water and drainage systems. Identifies plumbing and safety problems applicable to the installation and takes necessary corrective action using appropriate parts and tools.

Duties and Responsibilities

· Complies with all required safety, building code and inspection requirements.

· Reads and interprets blueprints, specifications, and other instructions.

· Exercise functional supervision over assigned apprentice.

· Oversees and installs new plumbing, including pipes, valves, drains, basins, tubs, faucets, lavatories, sinks, drinking fountains, hot water heaters, and a wide variety of other plumbing fixtures, facilities, and equipment.

· Supervises and performs repair of old plumbing, including fixtures and pipelines, clean and open traps, drains and other lines.

· Reviews the work of subordinate staff to ensure compliance with applicable codes and ordinances.

· Solders and repairs copper pipes.

· Oversees and reviews the preparation of work orders.

· Conducts estimates on time and materials required for jobs.

· Conducts preventive maintenance on plumbing fixtures and systems.

· Performs related duties and fulfills responsibilities as required.

Requirements and Qualifications

· High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred.

· Valid driver’s license

· Must have 1 to 3 years of related experience or additional specialized training and/or certification

· Reliable, detailed oriented, highly organized, and capable of handling several tasks.

· Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills

· Ability to work after hours, over weekends, and on public holidays with short or no notice.

· Manual dexterity

· Valid Driver’s license required.

· Must be 18 years or older.

· Must be insurable.
