General Description The Journeyman Tradesworker performs skilled work of maintaining, repairing, and improving County buildings, property, and systems. Scheduled days are Monday through Thursday, 6:30 AM to 5:00 PM.

Drives and/or operates a county vehicle or equipment and must obey all safety policies, and roadway rules and laws. Installs, maintains, and repairs County buildings, property, systems, and equipment. Requires working on renovation and new construction projects.

Position will focus primarily on plumbing and a secondary emphasis on carpentry, painting, drywall and drywall finishing and all work generally associated with rough and finish carpentry, some knowledge of locksmithing is desirable. Position assists with office reorganizations including moving and/or installing furniture. Maintains knowledge of building and operational codes and standards to ensure that work meets requirements.

Reads, interprets, and follows detailed technical illustrations such as plans, maps, surveys, and diagrams. Operates specialized tools and equipment. Performs routine maintenance inspections.

Performs work duties during an on-call rotation for holidays, nights, and weekends. Performs other duties as required. Minimum Requirements Education, Training, and Experience High School Diploma or GED equivalent and formal training, special courses or self-education that is equivalent to satisfactory completion of one year of college education or specialized advanced training.

Four (4) years of relevant experience in area(s) of concentration (plumbing). Skills and Abilities Working knowledge of various power tools. Ability to read blueprints, building plans, and repair manuals.

Good understanding of basic mathematics. Ability to understand and follow simple oral and written directions. Ability to work well with others; maintain courteous and effective relations with County staff, elected officials, community interest groups and the public.

Perform basic computer tasks such as checking and sending emails, filling out online forms, gathering information, and logging into various accounts and systems. Ability to work after normal business hours (including holidays, nights, and weekends). Licenses and Certifications Valid Florida Driver License or must obtain within 30 days of establishing residency in Florida.

Plumbing and carpentry certifications preferred. Must have or be able to obtain within 90 days certification in FEMA National Incident Management System (NIMS) courses: IS-100.c: Introduction to the Incident Command System (ICS); and IS-700.b: An Introduction to the National Incident Management System Physical Requirements/Work Environment Requires standing and walking most of the day. The job involves frequent lifting and carrying up to up to and greater than 50 pounds

The job requires frequent bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, balancing, twisting, and reaching above shoulders. The job requires the completion of tasks that involves simple grasping, pushing, pulling, fine manual manipulation, typing, operating foot controls/levers, driving automotive equipment, and occasionally working in darkness and operating a manual transmission. The job requires normal visual acuity and field of vision, depth perception and color vision, hearing, and speaking.
