Job description

Experience Plumber with Carpentry Skills

This is a hands-on residential plumber for multifamily renovations, with carpentry being the secondary.

Who We Are

At KH Properties, we believe strong communities start with strong values: Community, Integrity, and Quality. We specialize in the renovation and management of multifamily apartment communities throughout the Midwest and Southeastern United States. Our work focuses on revitalizing properties through thoughtful, high-quality construction—done the right way, every time.

The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Construction Carpenter with Plumbing Experience to join our Construction team as we continue renovating multifamily apartment communities throughout Mississippi.

This role is ideal for a hands-on construction professional who enjoys solving a variety of construction challenges each day. While the position includes general carpentry and occasional heavy equipment operation, we are specifically looking for someone with strong residential plumbing experience who can confidently diagnose and complete common plumbing repairs during apartment renovations.

The successful candidate will perform a combination of carpentry, plumbing, demolition, finish work, and general construction tasks while supporting renovation projects from start to finish. This is a working position—not a supervisory role. We are looking for a dependable team member who takes pride in quality workmanship, problem-solving, and helping deliver move-in ready apartment homes.

Primary Plumbing & Construction Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair common residential plumbing issues during apartment renovations.

  • Install and replace toilets, faucets, sinks, shut-off valves, disposals, water supply lines, drain lines, and plumbing fixtures.

  • Assist with drain cleaning, minor sewer repairs, and troubleshooting plumbing systems.

  • Perform drywall removal and repair associated with plumbing work.

  • Complete rough and finish carpentry including framing, trim, doors, cabinets, punch work, and general remodeling.

  • Assist with demolition, flooring, painting, and other renovation activities as needed.

  • Operate skid steers, mini excavators, or other construction equipment when project needs require.

  • Read and follow project plans while maintaining a safe, organized, and productive job site.

What You’ll Do

  • Perform hands-on construction tasks including demolition, site preparation, grading, drainage improvements, excavation support, framing, drywall, finish carpentry, and general renovation work.

  • Execute work with precision and consistency, following established plans, scopes, and quality standards.

  • Safely operate hand tools, power tools, saws, and measurement equipment.

  • Complete assigned tasks independently while collaborating with the broader construction crew.

  • Maintain clean, organized job sites and ensure tools and equipment are kept in good working condition.

  • Support other crews or projects as needed based on schedule and workload.

  • Follow safety protocols at all times and contribute to a jobsite culture focused on doing things right.

Who We’re Looking For

  • 3-5+ years of hands-on experience in residential construction, apartment renovations, remodeling, maintenance, or related construction trades.

  • Demonstrated experience performing common residential plumbing repairs, including replacing toilets, faucets, shut-off valves, supply lines, drain lines, plumbing fixtures, and troubleshooting basic plumbing issues.

  • Strong carpentry skills with experience in framing, drywall, trim, doors, cabinets, punch work, and general interior renovations.

  • Experience operating construction equipment such as skid steers, mini excavators, backhoes, or loaders is preferred but not required.

  • Comfortable working from project scopes, work orders, and supervisor direction while completing work independently.

  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to producing high-quality, move-in ready apartment homes.

  • Safety-minded with a strong understanding of OSHA standards and safe jobsite practices.

  • Dependable, self-motivated, and able to work both independently and as part of a construction team.

  • Reliable attendance and the ability to travel between properties within the Jackson metropolitan area.

  • Valid driver's license with reliable transportation to and from job sites.

  • Physically able to perform construction duties, including lifting up to 80 pounds, climbing ladders, kneeling, bending, and working indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.

  • Comfortable learning and using company-issued mobile devices and applications to document work and communicate with the team.

What We Offer

  • Competitive hourly pay based on skill level and experience.

  • Company-sponsored health insurance with 100% employee-only premium coverage.

  • Health, dental, and vision insurance eligibility after the introductory period.

  • 401(k) retirement plan with 100% company match up to 4% after eligibility.

  • Paid holidays after 60 days of employment.

  • Vacation pay eligibility after the introductory period.

  • OSHA 10-hour training and additional certification opportunities.

  • A consistent, year-round workload with a standard 5-day work week and occasional overtime.

  • A respectful team environment where quality work is recognized and appreciated.

  • Employment is contingent upon successful completion of background screening and other applicable checks, as permitted by state law.

Core Values

We expect every team member to live out our values in their daily work:

  • Community: Respect our residents, teammates, and the communities we serve.

  • Integrity: Do what you say you will do, when you say you will do it.

  • Quality: Take pride in your craft and deliver work that lasts.

If you are a skilled carpenter who values stability, structure, and producing quality work as part of a dedicated construction team, we encourage you to apply and grow with KH Properties.

Equal Opportunity Employment

KH Properties is an Equal Opportunity Employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability, veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law.
