Plumbers read blueprints and building codes to ensure proper installation, troubleshoot plumbing issues, and may also install appliances like water heaters or dishwashers. They must follow local and national safety regulations and often respond to emergency calls for leaks or clogs. Plumbers may also provide cost estimates and advice to customers on maintaining their plumbing systems.

To thrive as a Plumber in the USA, you need strong mechanical aptitude, problem-solving skills, and a high school diploma or GED, often supplemented by an apprenticeship and state licensure. Familiarity with plumbing codes, blueprints, pipe-cutting tools, and diagnostic equipment is essential, and certifications like Journeyman or Master Plumber can enhance credibility. Effective communication, attention to detail, and reliability are crucial soft skills that set top plumbers apart.
