Comfort Systems USA MidAtlantic, LLC is a leading building and service provider for HVAC, mechanical, and plumbing building systems. Serving South Central, VA and North Central, NC since 1970, our regional footprint provides us the ability to meet customer objectives to build and maintain safe, comfortable, and efficient facilities. We have over 62,600 square feet of best-in-class facilities located in South Boston, VA, including offices, sheet metal fabrication, plumbing and piping fabrication, and warehousing. We are currently looking to add an experienced Plumber to our team! The Plumber is responsible for assembling and installing commercial plumbing components in the field while following the five core values of Comfort Systems USA:

Plumbers are responsible for:

  • Assembling, installing, and repairing pipes, fittings, and fixtures according to specifications and plumbing codes
  • Reading job plans to assess material and equipment needs, establishing the sequence of pipe installations, and to plan installations around obstructions
  • Working directly with the jobsite Forman on all scopes of work and planning
  • Installing pipe assemblies, fittings, valves, etc.
  • Cutting openings in structures to accommodate pipes and pipe fittings, using hand and power tools
  • Reviewing blueprints and building codes
  • Installing underground storm, sanitary and water piping systems and extending piping to connect fixtures and plumbing to these systems
  • Installing copper pipe using solder, press or brazed joints; installing PVC piping using solvent welded joints
  • Installing No-Hub and Hub and Spigot Cast Iron piping
  • Properly preparing all pipe ends for the type joint being constructed
  • Creating testing plans to effectively test systems as they are installed
  • Evaluating area safety needs/requirements to provide feedback and recommendations to technicians, and assisting in the implementation of safety policies, procedures, and training.
  • Performing other related duties or special projects, as assigned.

The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications, but candidates who do not meet all of these, but are looking for their next career opportunity and enjoy learning are encouraged to apply still.

  • 4+ years experience in plumbing
  • Good mathematical, mechanical, and logical reasoning skills
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, ability to read and understand weld symbols, weld procedures, mechanical and structural drawings
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • OSHA 10 preferred
  • Ability to pass a drug screen and background check
  • Valid Driverโ€™s License
  • Ability to lift at least 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work on ladders and/or lifts
  • Ability to reach above shoulders, crawl, squat, kneel and bend consistently
