Their work enables users to customize and enhance software without altering the core codebase.

Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git), API integrations, and knowledge of software development best practices or certifications such as AWS Certified Developer can be advantageous. Creativity, problem-solving abilities, and effective communication help distinguish top-performing plugin developers. These skills ensure plugins are efficient, secure, user-friendly, and compatible, directly impacting user experience and platform functionality.

What are the common challenges faced by plugin developers when ensuring compatibility with different software versions?

Plugin developers often encounter challenges in maintaining compatibility across multiple software versions due to frequent updates and changes in the host application's API or architecture. It requires staying up-to-date with release notes, testing plugins against new versions, and sometimes refactoring code to address deprecated functions or new requirements. Active communication with the user community and host application developers can help identify issues early and ensure a smoother user experience. Being proactive with version control and documentation is also crucial for managing compatibility challenges effectively.

POSITION: WordPress Full Stack Developer

Location: Fort Lauderdale - HQ

FLSA Classification: Exempt

Who We Are

At Sound Income Group, our mission is to help independent financial professionals and their clients thrive, especially those approaching or in retirement. We provide a full suite of resources across financial education, investment strategies, marketing, and practice management to support long-term success.

We foster a collaborative, performance-driven culture rooted in integrity, innovation, and service. If you're enthusiastic about making a measurable impact in the financial services space, we invite you to grow with us.

Position Summary

The WordPress Full Stack Developer serves as a technical architect and strategist for our digital ecosystem, bridging the gap between complex backend functionality and polished front-end user experiences. This role is responsible for building, customizing, and maintaining high-performance WordPress websites. The Developer exercises independent judgment to architect scalable solutions, integrates third-party services, troubleshoots critical issues, and collaborates with marketing and design teams to ensure that digital properties align with business growth objectives and brand standards.

Key Responsibilities

Platform Development & Architecture

  • Act as the primary technical lead for the WordPress environment, evaluating project requirements to determine optimal themes, plugins, and custom development strategies.
  • Build and customize advanced WordPress themes and plugins from the ground up, ensuring code adheres to best practices (WordPress standards, security, version control).
  • Exercise independent judgment to architect database schemas, custom post types, and advanced custom fields to support complex content and marketing needs.
  • Manage staging and production environments, overseeing seamless deployments and minimizing downtime.

Full Stack Integration & Optimization

  • Handle the full stack of web development: implement responsive front-end designs using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, while engineering robust back-end solutions with PHP and MySQL.
  • Integrate websites with external APIs, CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot), marketing automation tools, and e-commerce platforms (WooCommerce).
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to ensure the website architecture supports SEO strategies, conversion rate optimization, and analytics tracking.
  • Identify patterns in site performance or user feedback; provide actionable insights and technical recommendations to the marketing leadership team to improve site speed, user experience, and functionality.

Security, Maintenance & Troubleshooting

  • Proactively monitor website health, including uptime, security vulnerabilities, and plugin compatibility; implement solutions to mitigate risks before they impact users.
  • Anticipate potential technical challenges (e.g., traffic spikes, third-party API changes) and implement scalable solutions to keep initiatives on track.
  • Serve as the final escalation point for complex technical issues, performing deep-dive troubleshooting into code conflicts, server errors, or database corruption.

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Project Leadership

  • Serve as the technical liaison between the marketing team and external vendors or internal stakeholders, translating business needs into technical requirements and vice versa.
  • Collaborate with the Project Coordinator and design teams to refine workflows, ensuring that development timelines are realistic and deliverables meet quality standards.
  • Provide input into the development roadmap, proposing enhancements to the digital experience platform based on emerging technologies and business needs.
  • Represent the technical perspective in internal discussions, helping shape initiatives that support business growth through reliable, high-performing digital tools.
