What You'll Do:
- Maintain and troubleshoot a broad range of automation and electrical equipment essential to oil and gas production.
- Provide on-site automation support, ensuring seamless operation of facility control systems and field instrumentation including level, pressure, flow, vibration, and others.
- Serve as a technical resource for control systems, including well RTUs, PLCs, HMIs, and communications networks such as ControlNet and Ethernet/IP.
- Follow industry standards and best practices to ensure safety, compliance, and operational excellence.
- Utilize CMMS tools like SAP to coordinate maintenance activities and document repairs.
- Identify areas for improvement in instrumentation and control systems, implementing strategic enhancements.
- Work safely around energized equipment, participate in shift rotations including nights and weekends, and be willing to travel as needed.
Required Skills:
- 7+ years of experience as an Automation Specialist with a strong background in oilfield operations.
- Mastery of well RTU design, programming, and troubleshooting.
- Deep knowledge of analog and discrete instrumentation and serial/ethernet communication protocols.
- Advanced skills in PLC programming (ladder logic, function block, structured text) and HMI interfaces.
- Proficiency with Allen-Bradley and Rosemount systems.
- Ability to troubleshoot control networks and control devices (ControlNet, Ethernet I/P, fiber optics, RF communications).
- Strong understanding of industry standards (API, NEC, NFPA, IEEE, ISA).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative mindset.
- Capable of working independently and responsibly in challenging environments.
- Proficient in MS Office applications and Windows OS.
- Valid high school diploma or GED.
Nice to Have Skills:
- Experience working with cause & effect diagrams, P&IDs, wiring diagrams, and control narratives.
- Familiarity with fitting work in confined or elevated spaces (air work, aerial manlift platforms).
- Prior experience with safety protocols and industry certifications.
Preferred Education & Experience:
- A 2-year Instrumentation or Automation Technology degree with a GPA of 2.5 or higher, or equivalent technical experience.
- Significant hands-on experience in oilfield automation and control systems.
Other Requirements:
- Willingness to work 12-hour shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to travel to unassigned job sites as required.
