Job description

PLC/HMI Integration Engineer — Web Printing & Converting Systems Are you the engineer who can turn a backlog into breakthroughs?

Arrow International is scaling automation across print, converting, die cutting, and finishing. As new process improvements arise and pull tab throughput initiatives advance, our automation project list is growing faster than one engineer can deliver. Step in to accelerate projects from idea to implementation.

What you’ll impact
  • Throughput: unlock capacity across printing and converting lines.
  • Quality: embed vision checks and serialization verification.
  • Repeatability: standardize controls practices and documentation.
  • Uptime: troubleshoot fast and keep production moving.
Your core responsibilities
  • Program and troubleshoot PLCs (Allen-Bradley preferred) to stabilize and optimize operations.
  • Build and refine HMIs that make operator interactions clear and effective.
  • Integrate controls across print, converting, die cutting, collating, finishing, and adjacent systems.
  • Implement industrial vision for inline inspection, quality gates, and serialization checks.
  • Bring commercial inkjet, laser, and variable-data printing systems into production workflows.
  • Support robotics programming and automation initiatives tied to labor reduction, higher throughput, quality, and consistency.
  • Create and maintain electrical drawings, panel designs, wiring standards, and controls documentation.
  • Team with Process Engineering to deploy automation on prioritized improvements.
  • Align with Controls Engineering to integrate process enhancements.
  • Troubleshoot alongside Maintenance and Production to protect uptime.
  • Contribute to equipment upgrades, process improvements, and new automation installs.
  • Drive standards and reusable controls solutions across production areas.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Who you’ll work with

Process Engineering, Controls Engineering, Production, Maintenance, and Operations—all focused on turning automation concepts into reliable results across our manufacturing lines.

What you bring
  • B.S. in Electrical, Controls, or Automation Engineering (or equivalent experience).
  • 3–5 years programming PLCs; Allen-Bradley preferred.
  • Experience building HMIs and integrating controls in manufacturing environments.
  • Track record supporting production equipment, automation efforts, or process improvements.
  • Industrial vision exposure (Cognex or Keyence) strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with inkjet/laser coding, serialization, or variable-data printing integration is highly desirable.
  • Robotics programming experience preferred.
  • Ability to produce and maintain electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, and documentation.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills on the production floor.
  • Clear communicator who collaborates across Engineering, Maintenance, Production, and Operations.
  • Comfort shifting between project execution and hands-on support.
Technical proficiencies
  • Industrial Robot Programming
  • Troubleshooting Industrial Automation Equipment
  • PLC Programming Experience
  • Pneumatics Troubleshooting
