Position Summary

Raleigh Plastic Surgery Center is in search of a detail-oriented, reliable Surgical Technologist to join our operating room team. This is a wonderful opportunity to work alongside our top-rated surgeons and help our patients achieve their goals! The ideal candidate will assist our plastic surgeons and surgical staff before, during, and after procedures, maintaining a sterile field and ensuring all instrumentation and supplies are prepared and accounted for. The candidate must have the ability to effectively communicate, anticipate the needs of the physician and the ability to multi-task. Availability is needed across ASC operating hours, generally 6:30 AM–5:00 PM. This role is well-suited to someone who thrives in a fast-paced, precision-driven environment and takes pride in supporting excellent patient outcomes.


Key Responsibilities

In the OR

  • Set up the operating room with sterile instruments, supplies, and equipment prior to each procedure
  • Scrub in and pass instruments, sutures, and supplies to surgeons during procedures
  • Maintain a sterile field throughout surgery and monitor for breaks in sterile technique
  • Perform accurate instrument, sponge, and needle counts before, during, and after surgery
  • Assist with patient positioning and skin prep
  • Collaborate closely with surgeons, circulating nurses, and anesthesia staff to ensure smooth case flow
  • Assist with turnover between cases to maximize OR efficiency

Sterile Processing & Instrument Care

  • Clean, decontaminate, prepare trays, and sterilize instruments and equipment
  • Monitor the free-standing sterilizer, ensuring graph paper is stocked and replaced as needed
  • Conduct and record weekly spore testing per facility protocol

Inventory & Supplies

  • Maintain accurate inventory of surgical supplies and communicate reorder needs
  • Unpack incoming supplies and rotate stock to maintain freshness and usability
  • Verify supply and implant shipments against invoices and help resolve discrepancies

Compliance, Training & Facility Support

  • Ensure compliance with AAAHC accreditation standards, infection control protocols, and OSHA guidelines; support policy efforts that maintain accreditation
  • Assist with orientation on autoclave use and Surgery center stocking locations
  • Maintain organization and cleanliness of the ASC


Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program required
  • Current certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST); new grads eligible for certification considered
  • BLS certification required (or obtained within 30 days of hire)
  • Prior experience in plastic/cosmetic surgery, ambulatory surgery centers, or outpatient surgical settings strongly preferred
  • Strong knowledge of aseptic technique and sterile processing standards
  • Initiative, dependability, and a strong sense of teamwork; able to identify problems and propose solutions
  • Excellent manual dexterity, attention to detail, and ability to anticipate surgeon needs
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift/move equipment and supplies (up to 25–50 lbs.)
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively as part of a surgical team
  • Flexibility to accommodate a full-time schedule within ASC hours 6:30 AM–5:00 PM.

  • Subject to handling un-sterile surgical instruments as part of decontamination duties
  • Must be able to multi-task and remain flexible with scheduling
