You also assist during the operation and monitor the patient’s condition after surgery. In some offices, you administer injections and skin treatments, such as Botox and chemical peels. Plastic surgery cases may involve patients who need reconstruction following an illness or injury, such as breast cancer patients who had a mastectomy or burn victims who need skin grafts. Responsibilities often include preparing patients for surgery, assisting the surgical team in the operating room, monitoring patients during recovery, and providing detailed post-op instructions to ensure proper healing. RNs also act as a key liaison between patients, surgeons, and other healthcare staff, addressing patient concerns and coordinating follow-up care.
