As a plastic surgery physician assistant, you provide patient care, including therapeutic and surgical care, under the supervision of a plastic surgeon. In this role, you assist with patient assessment, development of treatment plans, and peri- and post-operative care. You also assist with cosmetic surgery procedures in the operating room (OR) and work to ensure high standards for patient care, carefully observing ethical and legal requirements. Additionally, your duties and responsibilities include providing discharge instructions, setting follow-up appointments, and answering questions for patients and their families. Some employers offer on-the-job training in skills that are specific to plastic surgery for qualified candidates.
