Job description

The Department of Surgery, Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery requests to hire an APP to provide the upmost patient centered care in an ambulatory and inpatient setting with a multi-specialty group of plastic surgeons. This will include, but not limited to, ambulatory management of cosmetic and reconstructive patients, first assist in the operating room, and inpatient responsilibities to include rounding on all plastic and reconstructive patients.

Nurse Practitioner - Master's Degree in Nursing. Certified as a Nurse Practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or equivalent body or currently licensed as an advanced practice nurse in the state of GA by the Georgia Board of Nursing Advanced Certification in the specialized area if required. Current American Heart Association, Basic Life Support(BLS). Must be fully credentialed by the credentialing office to work.

OR

Physician's Assistant - Graduated from an accredited Physician's Assistant program. Certified as a Physician Assistant by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA). Licensure to practice medicine through the GA Composite Medical Board Must maintain status as a certified PA, including completion of all requirements for continuing medical education and re-cert. Advanced Certification in the specialized area if required. Current American Heart Association, Basic Life Support(BLS). Must be fully credentialed by the credentialing office to work.

The APP's responsibilities will include, but not limited to 1) practicing as a stand alone provider by managing weekly clinic 2) examine patients and make diagnoses to determine the need for surgery 3) review patient medical history and plan the best procedure for treatment in consultation with physician lead when necessary 4) complete all preparatory steps for surgery including obtaining informed consent, working with clinic schedulers and RNs to schedule surgery with a pool of surgeons and provide preoperative education 5) perform postoperative visits for select patients at the discretion of the operating surgeon 6) perform ambulatory procedures for a variety of surgical diagnoses wound care, cosmetics and other excisional biopsies 7) first assist in the operating room 8) assist in promoting activities and programs for the Plastics clinic at AU Health, and provide appropriate educational materials.â€'â€'â€'â€'â€'
