CNC Operator – Plastic Injection Mold Manufacturing

Location: Pulaski, TN
Department: Tooling / Machining
Reports To: CNC Supervisor / Manufacturing Manager

Position Summary

The CNC Operator is responsible for operating CNC machining centers to manufacture high-precision components used in plastic injection molds. This role supports the tooling and mold manufacturing process by ensuring parts are produced accurately, efficiently, and according to engineering specifications. The CNC Operator works closely with CNC programmers, mold designers, and toolmakers to maintain quality and meet production deadlines.


Key Responsibilities
  • Operate CNC milling machines and machining centers used in injection mold manufacturing

  • Load programs, set up fixtures, and prepare machines for machining mold components

  • Machine precision parts such as cores, cavities, inserts, plates, and mold components

  • Verify program accuracy and monitor machine operations during production

  • Perform in-process inspections using precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges)

  • Ensure machined parts meet tight tolerances and quality standards

  • Change tooling, offsets, and work holding as needed during machining operations

  • Maintain machine cleanliness and perform routine maintenance checks

  • Record production data and machine downtime when required

  • Collaborate with CNC programmers, toolmakers, and supervisors to troubleshoot machining issues

  • Follow all safety procedures and manufacturing best practices


Required Skills amp; Qualifications
  • Experience operating CNC machining centers (3-axis or 5-axis preferred)

  • Ability to read engineering drawings and mold design prints

  • Knowledge of machining practices used in plastic injection mold tooling

  • Experience with precision measuring instruments

  • Strong attention to detail and quality control

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment

  • Basic understanding of G-code and CNC machine controls

  • Ability to lift materials and stand for extended periods


Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in tool and die or injection mold manufacturing

  • Familiarity with CAD/CAM software such as Tebis, Mastercam, or similar

  • Knowledge of mold components including cores, cavities, slides, and inserts

  • Technical training or certification in CNC machining or manufacturing technology

  • Required use of PPE including safety glasses, hearing protection, and steel-toe boots
