Job description

Toolmaker / Mold Maker

Location: Omaha, NE

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM (8–9 hour shifts)

Occasional Saturday Overtime Available

Opportunity Overview

Our client is seeking an experienced Toolmaker / Mold Maker to join a growing manufacturing team specializing in custom-engineered products. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled machinist with injection mold building experience who enjoys working on complex, custom tooling projects from concept through production.

With the current Tool Room Lead approaching retirement, this position offers the opportunity to become a key contributor within the organization and play a significant role in the future of the department.

The company is expanding the team by adding up to two additional professionals.

Key QualificationsRequired Skills & Experience
  • Toolmaker / Mold Maker experience in a manufacturing environment

  • 2–4+ years of injection mold building, repair, and maintenance experience

  • Strong experience programming, setting up, and operating CNC Mills

  • Experience with mold making and precision machining

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, part prints, and mechanical drawings

  • Experience manufacturing components to tight tolerances

  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities

  • Experience with various machining processes and tooling equipment

Preferred Experience
  • Haas CNC Machines

  • CamWorks or similar CAM software

  • EDM (Electrical Discharge Machining)

  • Surface and cylindrical grinders

  • Manual and CNC lathes

  • Production machining and steel stamping dies

  • Working with various tool steels and plastics

  • Precision measurement equipment including calipers, micrometers, depth micrometers, and optical comparators

Primary ResponsibilitiesCNC Programming & Machining
  • Program, set up, and operate CNC mills and other machining equipment

  • Manufacture precision components for injection molds, stamping dies, and custom-machined products

  • Perform machine setup, troubleshooting, and process optimization

Mold Building & Toolmaking
  • Build, repair, modify, and maintain injection molds

  • Assemble tooling and components according to engineering drawings and specifications

  • Ensure finished tooling meets dimensional and quality requirements

Quality & Process Control
  • Collaborate with Quality Assurance throughout production runs

  • Verify dimensions and tolerances using precision measuring instruments

  • Create and maintain setup sheets and machining documentation

Team Collaboration
  • Work closely with Engineering, Design, Purchasing, and Production teams

  • Communicate project status, technical issues, and completion timelines to supervisors

  • Assist in training operators and supporting production activities

Safety & Organization
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment

  • Follow all lockout/tagout, safety, and hazardous communication procedures

  • Promote safe operating practices throughout the department

Technical Requirements

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Advanced understanding of CNC machining processes

  • Strong knowledge of tool room operations and equipment

  • Experience establishing machine setups independently

  • Mechanical aptitude for equipment maintenance and repair

  • Ability to perform complex mathematical calculations

  • Experience working to precise tolerances and specifications

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods

  • Ability to bend, twist, lift, and reposition tooling and materials

  • Ability to safely operate manufacturing equipment and tooling machinery

  • Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE)
