Job description

Reports to the Director. Prepares, paints, and maintains interior surfaces and structures of various types for the purpose of extending the life of and improving the appearance of painted or sealed surfaces.

Maintain Facility
  • Installs/repairs plaster walls and ceiling.
  • Installs drywall construction, tape and float.
  • Installs and repairs suspended ceilings.
  • Hangs pictures, signs, etc.
  • Mixes paint color to match hospital needs.
  • Applies proper paint base for job.
  • Preps surface properly.
  • Selects proper application (spray-roll-brush).
  • Hangs and repairs wall covering.

Periodic maintenance
  • Completes basic PMs by the due date and in accordance with printed task and procedure codes.

Work Orders
  • Performs all assigned tasks in a timely manner.
  • Makes sure that all work orders are completed within 3 days of assignment. At the discretion of Manager, the 3 day limit may be waived due to the nature of some assignments.
  • Informs customers of status of all work requests delayed due to parts on order.
  • Submits all completed work orders no later than two working days after work completion, making sure that all information is as accurate as possible and the dates are correct.

Order Materials
  • Orders and stocks adequate materials needed for smooth and efficient operation of facility and satellites in a cost effective manner.
  • Organizes and labels stock storage areas.
  • Materials will be ordered in a best price and availability method. Only quality materials to be used.
  • Fills out all purchase requisitions appropriately with the initials of person ordering.

Contribute to the overall effectiveness of the department
  • Completes other job-related duties and projects as assigned.
ORGANIZATIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Associate complies with the following organizational requirements:
  • Attends and participates in department meetings and is accountable for all information shared.
  • Completes mandatory education, annual competencies and department specific education within established timeframes.
  • Completes annual employee health requirements within established timeframes.
  • Maintains license/certification, registration in good standing throughout fiscal year.
  • Direct patient care providers are required to maintain current BCLS (CPR) and other certifications as required by position/department.
  • Consistently utilizes appropriate universal precautions, protective equipment, and ergonomic techniques to protect patient and self.
  • Adheres to regulatory agency requirements, survey process and compliance.
  • Complies with established organization and department policies.
  • Available to work overtime in addition to working additional or other shifts and schedules when required.

Education and Experience
  • The knowledge, skills, and abilities as indicated below are normally acquired through the successful completion of a High School diploma or equivalent. A valid State issued Driver's License is required. A minimum of two to five years of experience involving painting, wall coverings, drywall and plaster repair is required.

  • Working knowledge of different types of paint and proper uses.
  • Working knowledge of drywall/plaster repair.
  • Working knowledge of vinyl wall coverings.

Working Conditions
  • May be exposed to undesirable working conditions due to dusty environments and exposure to paint fumes.
  • Work is frequently performed on a scaffold or ladder.

Physical Demands
  • Requires the physical ability and stamina (i.e., lifting up to 50 pounds, moving heavy furniture, etc.) to perform the essential duties of the position.
