Plasmid Director information
What does a Plasmid Director do?
What is the difference between Plasmid Director vs Plasmid Scientist?
| Aspect | Plasmid Director | Plasmid Scientist |
|---|---|---|
| Credentials | Advanced degrees (PhD or MS), leadership experience | Typically PhD or MS in molecular biology or related field |
| Work Environment | Management, overseeing teams and projects | Laboratory research and experimental work |
| Industry Usage | Leadership roles in biotech, pharma, research institutions | Research-focused roles in similar industries |
| Common Search Intent | Leadership, project management, strategic planning | Experimental design, data analysis, lab techniques |
The Plasmid Director typically holds a leadership position, managing teams and overseeing plasmid development projects, requiring advanced degrees and management experience. In contrast, the Plasmid Scientist focuses on hands-on research, experimental work, and data analysis within the laboratory setting. Both roles are essential in biotech and research industries but differ mainly in responsibility level and focus.

Job description
Company Overview
ImmunityBio, Inc. (NASDAQ: IBRX) is a commercial-stage biotechnology company developing cell and immunotherapy products that are designed to help strengthen each patient's natural immune system, potentially enabling it to outsmart the disease and eliminate cancerous or infected cells. We envision a day when we no longer fear cancer, but can conquer it, thanks to the biological wonder that is the human immune system. Our scientists are working to develop novel therapies that harness that inherent power by amplifying both branches of the immune system, attacking cancerous or infected cells today while building immunological memory for tomorrow. The goal: to reprogram the patient's immune system and treat the host rather than just the disease.
Why ImmunityBio?
* ImmunityBio is developing cutting-edge technology with the goal to transform the lives of patients with cancer and develop next-generation therapies and vaccines that complement, harness and amplify the immune system to defeat cancers and infectious diseases.
* Opportunity to join a publicly traded biopharmaceutical company with headquarters in Southern California.
* Work with a collaborative team with the ability to work across different areas of the company.
* Ability to join a growing company with professional development opportunities.
Position Summary
This position is a full-time paid internship with the Research & Development department where the candidate will gain hands on experience and training under supervision of scientists and research associates on basic day-to-day Biosafety level 1 (BSL-1) laboratory techniques, i.e. buffer prep, cell culture, plasmid isolation, PCR, and protein purification. The candidate will be able to interact with R&D directors, scientists and staff. This is an opportunity for an enrolled undergraduate or graduate student to be exposed to the day-to-day activities of a research lab, such as but not limited to: safety considerations, waste management, as well as experimental design and data presentation.

- Basic lab - pipetting, buffer prep
- Molecular biology - plasmid isolation, PCR, agarose gel electrophoresis
- Cell biology - sterile technique, cell culture
- Biochemistry - antibody purification
- Assist scientists and research associates with research experiments by performing basic tasks, such as buffer and media prep.
- Prepare for and utilize opportunities of learning such as presentations
- Submit on time and with consistency all work assignments to the internship supervisor.
- Provide internship supervisor with periodic progress reports as needed.
