Job description

Newton Crouch Company is seeking a skilled Plasma and Band Saw Operator to join our production team in Griffin, GA. In this role, you'll be responsible for reading and interpreting cut lists, prints, and technical drawings to accurately program, set up, and operate plasma table and band saw used in the fabrication of our agricultural application equipment.
This position requires close attention to detail, a strong safety mindset, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Plasma/Band Saw Responsibilities
  • Read and interpret specifications from cut lists, prints, sketches, planning sheets and/or technical drawings to determine materials, setup procedures.
  • Plasma
    • Load and unload the Plasma burning table using the overhead crane with chains or other lifting devices
    • Remove cut product from the Plasma table, stack on pallets or place in other holding areas, and ensure timely delivery to the next department as required
    • Program and operate plasma cutter; troubleshoot, and program, as needed
    • Program and set up Plasma using proper gases and cutting tips
    • Generate multiple part nests
    • Perform routine preventive machinery maintenance
  • Band Saw
    • Set up the saw, making adjustments for each job
    • Set stops or guides to specified lengths
    • Operate the saw, keeping an eye out for any defects or issues
    • Use measurement tools to ensure accuracy
    • Pack and transport finished pieces
  • Work on additional tasks outside the job description as directed by the Production Team
  • Perform all necessary quality checks during production and follow procedures when defective parts are discovered
  • Help unload and process raw material trucks as needed
  • Accurately complete paperwork, as required
  • Follow all company safety procedures and policies
  • Keep work area clean, organized, and free of any hazards

Skills and Qualifications
Background and Experience
  • Machine operating experience preferred,
  • Experience with plasma or laser table, preferred
  • Knowledge of basic hand tools i.e.: handheld plasma, grinder, cutting torch, etc.
  • Basic computer skills
  • Ability to read and understand CAD drawings
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to safely operate a forklift is required
