Job description

Budget Blinds is the North American leader in custom window coverings, and we pride ourselves on delivering a "white-glove" experience to our homeowners. We are looking for a detail-oriented, handy, and personable Installation Specialist to join our team.

As the face of the company during the final stage of the customer journey, you aren’t just "putting up blinds"—you are transforming a house into a home.

Starting pay for this role will be $17-$20/hr depending on experience and can go up substantially based on performance during our 90-day training and evaluation period!

Core Responsibilities

  • Precision Installation: Install a wide variety of custom window treatments including cellular shades, wood blinds, plantation shutters, motorized drapes, and outdoor solar shades.
  • Measurement Verification: Double-check window measurements before drilling to ensure a perfect fit for custom-ordered products.
  • Smart Home Integration: Set up and program motorization systems (Somfy, Lutron, PowerView) and pair them with home automation hubs or remotes.
  • Job Site Management: Maintain a clean workspace, use drop cloths to protect customer flooring/furniture, and perform a thorough cleanup post-install.
  • Customer Education: Demonstrate how to operate and care for the new window treatments, ensuring the customer is confident in their use.
  • Troubleshooting: Perform on-site repairs, adjustments, or warranty services as needed.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Handy & Tool Savvy: Proficiency with power drills, levels, miter saws, and various fasteners (anchors, toggle bolts, etc.).
  • Problem Solver: Ability to think on your feet when encountering uneven window casings or unique architectural challenges.
  • Tech-Friendly: Comfortable using tablets for digital work orders and basic programming for motorized products.
  • Professionalism: Excellent communication skills and a tidy appearance. You will be entering private residences daily.
  • Physical Stamina: Ability to climb ladders, work overhead for extended periods, and lift up to 50 lbs.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in finish carpentry, cabinetry installation, or general construction.
  • Experience with Plantation Shutter assembly and "caulk-and-walk" finishing.
  • A valid driver’s license and a clean driving record (for operating the branded Budget Blinds van).
