About the Opportunity

Job Summary

The Institute for Plant-Human Interface (IPHI) in the College of Science at Northeastern University advances fundamental plant biology and applies these discoveries to improve human health, agriculture, and sustainability. Located in Boston's biotechnology hub, IPHI fosters interdisciplinary collaboration in areas such as plant-derived therapeutics, climate-resilient crops, AI-enabled plant science, and sustainable biomanufacturing.

The Lab Technician will perform bench-level experiments and small independent research projects to support the Institute's scientific research objectives.The Lab Technician will analyze experimental data, address methodological problems in experimental protocols and results, and report data to the Principal Investigator.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

  • Conduct bench level experiments and small independent research projects in consultation with the Principal Investigator or other project manager.

  • Operate lab equipment and prepare and order necessary supply stocks.May work with vendors to address equipment, reagent, or supply issues.

  • Document, compile, and assist in interpreting experimental data. Report data to supervisor in oral and written reports.

  • Assist the PI or other Project Manager in determining the order of research processes that best support essential project goals.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required in Biology or a field directly related to the work.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, strong organizational skills required.

  • Proficiency in basic lab techniques required. Knowledge of principles of molecular biology and various scientific databases and publications preferred.

  • Team player
