Banks Construction Company is looking for a dependable, detail-oriented Asphalt Plant Operator to support our asphalt plant operations. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, can stay focused, and wants to be part of the production side of heavy civil construction.


As an Asphalt Plant Operator, you'll learn how to operate the asphalt plant from the control tower, load and scale trucks, communicate with crews and customers, and help keep plant production running safely and efficiently.


Banks Construction operates three asphalt plant locations in North Charleston, Summerville, and Walterboro. Our plants operate day and night to support project schedules and customer needs.

About the Asphalt Plant Division


The Asphalt Plant Division is part of our Production Group and plays an important role in supporting our paving and construction operations. At each plant facility, our team unloads granite stone, crushes recycled asphalt and concrete, produces asphalt, loads trucks, and prepares materials for jobs throughout the Lowcountry.


This team helps ensure our crews and customers receive the materials they need safely, accurately, and on time.


What You'll Do


As an Asphalt Plant Operator, you'll operate the plant from the control tower while supporting daily production, truck loading, customer needs, and overall plant operations. You may help with:

  • Learning all areas of the asphalt plant facility and plant operations
  • Operating the asphalt plant for different jobs throughout the Lowcountry
  • Loading and scaling trucks with asphalt and other materials
  • Monitoring plant controls, production needs, and material flow
  • Communicating with plant team members, paving crews, drivers, and customers
  • Helping private customers receive their asphalt on time
  • Tracking production and job information accurately
  • Staying focused in a fast-paced production environment
  • Following all company safety, quality, and environmental procedures
  • Helping troubleshoot plant needs and communicating issues quickly
  • Supporting general plant facility tasks as needed

This is a plant-based position, and hours may vary depending on production needs, project schedules, weather, and customer demand. Our plants operate day and night, so candidates may need to be flexible and available to work varying shifts as needed. Overtime may be required.
