We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Plant Operator, 4th Class Power Engineer to join our team at the Grande Prairie, AB, Green Energy Plant. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the safe and efficient operation of the plant equipment. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys hands-on challenges and is looking to grow their career in a dynamic and innovative environment.

As a Plant Operator, your responsibilities will include:

  • Ensuring the safety of the plant and personnel
  • Operating plant equipment in the field for optimal performance
  • Keeping the Shift Engineer informed with accurate plant status updates and promptly identifying issues
  • Performing regular plant tours and inspections
  • Identifying and suggesting improvements on a shift-to-shift basis
  • Participating in balancing shift priorities
  • Monitoring issues and status throughout the shift
  • Completing rounds using established check sheets for inspection
  • Conducting water tests each shift and entering results into the online database
  • Performing lockouts on required equipment
  • Demonstrating motivation to obtain a 3rd Class Power Engineering Ticket
  • Supporting business areas and systems with a focus on reliability and safety

For this role, you come equipped with:

  • 4th or 3rd Class Power Engineer certification
  • Mechanical aptitude with solid fuel firing experience (an asset)
  • Maintenance experience (an asset)
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
  • Previous experience in heavy equipment operations (an asset)
