Job description

Responsibilities: The School Counselor serves as an integral member of the student support team and works collaboratively with faculty, administration, families, and community partners to promote student success.

Universal Supports

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive school counseling program that supports the social-emotional development of all students.
  • Provide whole-class guidance lessons and schoolwide programming focused on topics such as emotional regulation, friendship, conflict resolution, resilience, and responsible decision-making.
  • Collaborate with teachers to promote positive classroom environments and student well-being.
  • Support schoolwide initiatives that foster a safe, welcoming, and faith-filled community.  

Targeted Supports

  • Facilitate small-group counseling based on identified student needs.
  • Provide short-term individual counseling and solution-focused support.
  • Assist teachers and families in developing interventions to address academic, behavioral, and social-emotional concerns.
  • Participate in Student Assistance Team (SAT) meetings and collaborate in developing student support plans.

  • Collaborate with parents/guardians regarding student needs and available resources.
  • Coordinate with outside therapists, mental health providers, physicians, and community agencies when appropriate.
