Job Summary
The Pipeline Technician II is responsible for the safe and efficient operation, maintenance and inspection of pipelines and associated equipment. Ensures the integrity of the pipeline systems and minimizes downtime through regular maintenance and repairs. This role requires knowledge of job procedures and tools. Works under moderate supervision. Communicates information that typically requires explanation or interpretation. Problems faced are generally routine and may sometimes require interpretation or deviation from standard procedures. Demonstrates integrity, accountability and transparency; upholds BKV standards, values and culture.
Responsibilities
Typical job responsibilities of the PIPELINE TECHNICIAN II include:
  • Conduct routine inspections, preventive maintenance and repairs on pipelines and related equipment.
  • Operate and maintain various tools and equipment including pigging devices, pumps, compressors and valves. Last Updated 4/28/2025
  • Perform visual inspections, corrosion assessments and integrity assessments.
  • Maintain cathodic protection systems to prevent corrosion on buried pipelines.
  • Keep accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections and repairs. Prepare reports for compliance and regulatory purposes.
  • Monitor leak detection systems and equipment. Respond to emergencies such as leaks, spills or equipment failures.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols, environmental regulations and industry standards.
  • Minimize the environmental impact of pipeline operations and promptly report any environmental incidents.
  • Collaborate with team members, engineers and supervisors to coordinate maintenance activities.
  • Stay current with industry developments, regulations and best practices.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Required Skills
  • Understanding of natural gas industry standards, market trends, emerging issues, and regulatory requirements.
  • Demonstrated mechanical knowledge that may include cathodic protection systems, pigging operations, and pipeline instrumentation.
  • Basic working knowledge of Microsoft Office and job-related applications. Understands how to use digital tools to make informed decisions.
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic fast-paced environment.

Education & Experience
  • High school diploma or GED required. Commensurate work experience considered.
  • Typically requires a minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience.
  • Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions
  • This position is located in the Barnett Field / Fort Worth Basin and is based out of the BKV Fort Worth, Texas or the Bowie, Texas office.
  • Must be available to work holidays, weekends, and non-scheduled callouts.
  • Outdoor working environment with varying weather conditions.
  • May be required to stand for long periods of time and potentially engage in frequent bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, and lifting items over 20lbs.
  • Sometimes exposed to hazardous environments that would require PPE (personal protective equipment) to be worn.
  • Frequently on the road and may remain in a stationary position up to 50% of the time.
  • Must be able to operate a motor vehicle and engage in frequent eye/hand/foot coordination.
