Structural Pipe Fitter / Heavy Fabrication
Day Shift (6 AM - 6 PM)
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced structural pipe Fitter to support fit-up and assembly of structural pipe and pressure vessel components in accordance with AWS and ASME code requirements. This role is critical to ensuring proper joint preparation, alignment, and dimensional accuracy prior to welding.
This is a Day shift role (6 AM - 6 PM) requiring focus, consistency, and attention to detail.
Key responsibilities
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and weld symbols
  • Measure, cut, and prepare materials to required specifications
  • Perform precision fit-up for weld joints, including proper gap, bevel, and alignment
  • Use tools such as grinders, torches, levels, and measuring devices
  • Verify dimensions, tolerances, and alignment prior to welding
  • Collaborate with welders and Quality to ensure code-compliant results
  • Identify and correct fit-up issues before welding begins
  • Maintain tools and equipment in safe, working condition
  • Keep work area clean, organized, and compliant with safety standards

Qualifications and Skills
  • Proven experience as a pipe fitter or structural fitter in an industrial environment
  • Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints and weld symbols
  • Understanding of fit-up tolerances, joint preparation, and alignment
  • Experience working with pipe, plate, or structural steel components
  • Ability to use measuring tools accurately (tape, level, square, etc.)
  • High attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong work ethic and reliability in a production environment

Preferred Experience (Strongly Valued)
  • Experience in pipe fabrication or pressure vessel environments
  • Familiarity with AWS or ASME codes
  • Prior experience supporting NDE-quality welding operations
  • Ability to perform basic tack welding (GMAW, FCAW)
  • GMAW and FCAW welding processes

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs independently on a routine basis and handle materials safely as part of daily job duties.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and maintain safe body positioning while performing tasks and moving through the work area, including walking on concrete floors and uneven surfaces.
  • Frequent squatting, bending, stooping, reaching, pushing, pulling, and lifting, requiring full-body mobility, balance, and upper- and lower-body strength to perform work safely.
  • Manual agility to operate tools safely and effectively, with regular use of arms, shoulders, and back for lifting, reaching, and positioning tasks.
  • Ability to work safely in a warehouse environment with exposure to noise, dust, moving equipment, and varying temperatures.
  • Maintain adequate visual and auditory acuity to safely perform assigned tasks, including but not limited to: identifying potential hazards, reading and/or recording measurements, inspecting materials, and responding promptly to verbal instructions, alarms or hand signals in the work environment
