We specialize in a full range of new and retrofit construction for industrial, food processing, commercial, institutional, healthcare, pharmaceutical, and bio-fuel projects.


Shambaugh & Son is seeking an IRT & Fabrication Coordinator. In this role you will be responsible for coordinating the completion of material requests, fabrication orders (IRTs), and ensuring that fabrication orders/IRTs are packed and shipped complete. Works hand and hand with trucking. This involves verifying that orders can be fulfilled and finding solutions when they cannot be. The coordinator is also responsible for ordering materials for the shop. This requires determining what needs to be ordered, quantities to maintain, and when to place orders.

  • IRTs 
    • Receiving IRTs, from emails, call ins, with packets….. 
    • Taking care of service calls/orders 
    • Making sure they make sense, from tablets, pics, may have to call sender 
    • Printing them & bringing them out to the floor to shop all day long. Deal with urgencies when applicable 
    • Confirming the IRTs completion when done, confirm delays with fitters/field when applicable 
    • Provide tracking info and updates on IRTs 
    • Coordinating with trucking to get IRTs on trucks (sometimes piggyback on other job’s trucks) 
    • Investigate, explain and be able to fix fumbles and mishaps 
  • Inventory 
    • Putting together a list of items that need to be ordered, control inventory 
    • Determine quantity to order, standard use quantities from historical data 
    • Format the order into an MRO, send to purchasing, get confirming PO’s/order confirmation to track delivery (purchasing) 
    • Check on the order to ensure delivery 
    • Keep track of previous orders to prevent double orders, refer to existing/current data to verify 
  • Additional Duties & Responsibilities
    • Recording & tracking various shop stats-welds/threads 
    • Manage supply of fab check lists, weld count sheets 
    • Assist with fabrication packets, break up lists-as backup when needed 
    • Inventory counts (Pipe counts daily) 
    • Keep track of fabricated jobs. Let trucking know where jobs are staged in yard. (checklist with bundle/pallet counts to ensure all fab goes & nothing left behind) 
    • Ensure “Pre-Task” safety form signed daily by shop 
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel, for tracking data and inventory.
  • Ability to handle requests in various formats and adapt to shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proven ability to switch between administrative tasks and floor coordination while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Confident in making phone calls to clarify technical orders and coordinating across multiple departments (Shop, Purchasing, Trucking).
  • Ability to look at historical data to predict inventory needs and troubleshoot logistical mishaps.
  • Regular and reliable attendance, including the ability to work extended hours and weekends as required
