Responsibilities:
  • Measure, cut, and bend various sizes of pipe and tubing to required angle/length using pipe cutters and benders
  • Threading and assembling black pipe
  • Groove and assemble steel pipe
  • Prepare, fabricate, install, and fit pipe to specifications
  • Install valves, hangers, supports and flanges in piping systems according to plans and applicable specifications
  • Repair leaks in all types of pipe systems
  • Assemble, install, and repair piping systems according to specifications and appropriate trade and building codes
  • Assist with coordination of materials, labor, and equipment
  • Order, inventory, and receive material delivered on computer
  • Responsible for training and developing apprentices
  • Ensure all safety procedures and quality standards are followed
  • Work with other departments as needed

Requirements:
  • Minimum 5 - 7 years of pipefitting or plumbing experience in a commercial/industrial setting
  • Must have previous experience in supervision (1 - 3 years minimum is preferred)
  • Must have strong communication skills
  • Can perform Job/Site layouts
  • Cooling tower knowledge
  • Chiller knowledge
  • Plan pipe system layout, installation, or repair, according to specifications. Lay out full scale drawings of pipe systems, supports, or related equipment, according to blueprints
  • Can read/interpret the following: Schematics, Product Specifications
  • Mechanical code knowledge
  • Valid Driver's License

Preferred Requirements:
  • Has a CSD 1/backflow Certification
  • Monitor actual work performance compared to the project budget and schedule
  • Knowledge of municipal water supplies, valve configurations and operating
  • Capable of accurately troubleshooting all systems, wet, dry, pre-action
  • Knowledge and piping of Air compressors/ Air dryers for dry and pre-action systems

Equipment & tool experience:
  • Aerial lift Operation - Boom & Scissor Lift
  • Forklift Operation - Material Handling up to 5000#
  • Telehandler
  • Chauffeur LIC/Med DOT Physical
  • Trailer Loading and Securing of Material

Rigging Requirements:
  • Use & recognize rigging hardware including hooks, shackles, wire rope clips, clamps, eye bolts, softeners and tag lines
  • Identifies common load configurations & positioning
  • Calculate load weights
  • Rigger 2 training - trains on above

Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to ascend/descend ladders, scaffolds, stairs, and/or operate scissor/boom lifts while working at height
  • Work in permit & non-permit required confined spaces and in proximity to loud equipment
  • Must be able to lift and carry or otherwise move up to 50 pounds regularly/occasionally
  • Must be able to respond quickly to auditory alarms, visual signals, or other effective means to communicate hazards
  • Must be able to move safely over uneven terrain or in confined spaces
  • Must be able to work in cold/hot environments
  • Must be able to traverse irregular and steep terrain
