INCREASED PER DIEM! Pay Rate: $48.00 per hour, plus $188.00 per day per diem, non-local.

Job Description

A First-Class Pipefitter, also referred to as a Journeyman Pipefitter, is responsible for fitting pipe consisting of various materials such as steel, galvanized, copper, copper-nickel, and stainless, along with the appropriate valves and fittings, utilizing various tools and equipment in accordance with drawings, arrangements, and blueprints.

Shipyard production areas sometimes involve working at different heights, confined spaces,  and in different weather conditions, as well as multiple shifts, 24 hours a day.

As with almost every position in the shipyard, a Pipefitter may be required to work either day or night, depending upon the number of ships under construction at any one point in time.

MK Industries stresses the importance of working safely in all situations, with safety procedures meeting, and most times, exceeding industry standards.

Basic Qualifications
•    Minimum 4 Yrs. trade experience, preferably 6 or more years of shipbuilding experience
•    Basic math, reading, and comprehension skills
•    Knowledge of the layout, fit-up, alignment tolerances, fabrication, and installation of pipe, flanges, and valves
•    Read and interpret trade drawings and/or blueprints utilizing both metric and standard measurements. Blueprint reading is a must.
