Pipe workers, also known as pipefitters or plumbers, are skilled tradespeople who install, assemble, maintain, and repair piping systems that carry water, gas, chemicals, or steam in residential, commercial, and industrial settings. Their work involves reading blueprints, measuring and cutting pipes, and ensuring that piping systems meet safety and building codes. Pipe workers may specialize in areas such as heating and cooling (HVAC), fire sprinkler systems, or industrial piping, depending on the needs of their employer or project.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a pipe worker?

To thrive as a Pipe Worker, you need a solid understanding of pipe installation, maintenance, and repair, often supported by a high school diploma or equivalent and completion of an apprenticeship program. Familiarity with pipe threading machines, welding equipment, and blueprint reading is typically required, along with relevant safety certifications like OSHA.
