PIPE LAYER/LABORER
Department of Public Works Water & Sewer Division
Salary: $27.61/hourly + generous benefits

The Town of Brooklines Department of Public Works is seeking a dependable and hardworking Pipe Layer to join our Water & Sewer Division. This hands-on role is essential to maintaining the Towns water and sewer infrastructure and ensuring reliable service to our residents.

The Pipe Layer performs a variety of manual labor and maintenance tasks, including:

  • Assisting with excavating and backfilling utility trenches
  • Maintaining hydrant and water main valves
  • Cleaning and maintaining water storage facilities, reservoirs, and surrounding grounds
  • Performing seasonal work such as mowing, leaf raking, and snow removal
  • Responding to emergencies involving water or sewer systems
  • Installing, repairing, and maintaining water mains, service pipes, hydrants, and sewer/drain connections
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications:
Knowledge of equipment operation and maintenance, safe work practices, and work zone safety is required. The ideal candidate can operate light equipment, assist other crew members on various projects, and has strong teamwork skills. A high school diploma and at least two years of experience in water and sewer construction, maintenance, or similar utility work is required, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Must possess a valid Massachusetts Class D Drivers License.
