Job description

About Us:
CT Mechanical, a division of Comfort Temp Company, has proudly provided exceptional mechanical contracting solutions since 2014. We specialize in comprehensive services across plumbing, HVAC, and mechanical piping systems for both commercial and residential projects. With a foundation built on family values and professionalism, our team operates from offices in Gainesville, Jacksonville, Orlando, and Tampa—delivering trusted results across Florida.

Job Summary:
CT Mechanical is hiring a Certified Welder/Pipefitter Combo with strong skills in both pipefitting and certified welding techniques. This dual-role position plays a vital part in the successful installation, assembly, and welding of mechanical piping systems on commercial job sites. The ideal candidate will bring high-level expertise in reading blueprints, welding to code, and managing complex mechanical layouts, while also mentoring apprentices and working collaboratively within project teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install and weld piping systems per specifications, drawings, and codes (SMAW, GTAW, MIG).

  • Select appropriate type and size of pipe, fittings, and materials for each project.

  • Perform field measurements, layout, cutting, and preparation of piping for welding or fitting.

  • Thread, groove, solder, or braze pipe as required.

  • Weld and fabricate various piping systems including carbon steel, stainless steel, and copper.

  • Conduct pressure and leak testing on completed welds and pipe systems.

  • Interpret and work from blueprints, isometric drawings, and P amp;IDs.

  • Secure piping systems with supports such as clamps, hangers, and brackets.

  • Follow all safety standards and welding procedures (ASME, AWS, OSHA).

  • Coordinate with Project Managers and Engineers on installation sequencing.

  • Supervise and mentor apprentices and helper-level workers.

  • Maintain accurate documentation on weld logs, material usage, and inspections.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required.

  • Minimum 5 years of combined experience in pipefitting and welding in commercial or industrial environments.

  • Certified Welder (AWS or ASME)—must be able to pass company welding test prior to employment.

  • Strong experience with carbon steel, stainless steel, and copper pipe systems.

  • OSHA 10 required; OSHA 30 preferred.

  • Ability to gain clearance to work on state and federal properties.

  • Skilled in reading technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints.

  • Excellent hand-eye coordination and physical stamina for field work.

  • Demonstrated leadership experience or willingness to mentor apprentices.

  • Must pass background check and drug screening.

Company Culture:
At CT Mechanical, we lead with purpose and pride. Our values—Do what you say. Do what it takes. Do it with purpose. Do the right thing.—reflect the integrity and excellence we bring to every project. We support career growth, team development, and a work environment where your skills and dedication are recognized and rewarded.
