Position Overview:

The Pipefitter will configure, install, fit, and maintain various piping systems, and ensure smooth operation of those systems. The Pipefitter will be responsible for cutting, assembling, installing pipes, and will operate tools and machines to grind, mill, and shape raw materials into a specified form, then assemble the final product.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Plans, prepares, installs, and maintains piping and plumbing systems composed of various materials; systems may include pipes, pressure and vacuum gauges, pipeline filters, steam traps, and strainer valves.
  • Consults blueprints, work orders, schematics, or instructions; creates working procedure based on specifications.
  • Gathers equipment and materials for the job.
  • Welds, cuts, bends, threads, solders, and fits pipes.
  • Attaches pipes and piping systems to walls using brackets, bracket systems, or clamps; cuts or bores holes prior to project.
  • Installs various types of pipe covering; safely removes and properly discards of old coverings according to hazardous waste procedures and in accordance with EPA and OSHA requirements.
  • Inspects pipes, testing for pressure and leaks; reports and/or resolves problems.
  • Coordinates with manager to schedule machinery maintenance, repairs, and installation to minimize disruption to operations.
  • Complies with applicable safety and building codes, regulations, and best practices.
  • Maintains records, including safety logs and inspection details.
  • Assist with jobsite safety to comply with all OSHA regulations and the hth companies' Safety Program.
  • Actively champions a positive workplace and safety culture.
  • Performs various other duties and functions as required or assigned.
