What Will You Do?
JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES:
  • Welding on various materials at required positions using different welding processes, including, but not limited to, GTAW, SMAW, FCAW, GMAW and SAW to create piping as designed.
  • Pipe Welders will perform pipe work as needed, though it may not be required daily.  The supervisor will assess shop needs and team members will be assigned tasks accordingly.
  • Performs work associated with the installation, calibration, and operation of different kinds of production machines, depending on company specialization or materials used
  • Tests and inspects machines to determine safe and efficient operation, performs routine maintenance, and fixes standard malfunctions
  • Reads and interprets blueprints, engineering specifications, and shop orders to determine machine setup, production methods, and sequence of operation
  • Checks that items produced pass quality control test
  • Lay out, position, fit and weld various piping and structural components, including pipes, flanges, fittings, valves, piping supports, structural plates, beams, etc., in accordance with the supplied piping/structural fabrication drawings.
  • Set up, troubleshoot, and operate welding machines according to job specifications and welding procedures.
  • Adjust valves, gauges, and flames as needed and be capable of handling compressed gas and oxygen cylinders safely.
  • Operate air arc, gouger, grinder, and other industry machines, tools, and equipment.
  • Participate in JSAs and all other Safety, Health and Environmental Processes.  Completes required documentation, electronic or paper, on all work performed
  • Understands and adheres to established safety and quality procedures
  • Maintains a clean work area and practices general housekeeping standards
  • Performs all tasks to ISO standards and requirements
  • Performs other duties as assigned (Examples include - helping to mix paint or insulating a tank).

 

SCHEDULE:

  • Work shift: Friday/Saturday/Sunday
  • First shift: 5:00 AM - 5:00 PM

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance. Must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this role includes close vision.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and is frequently exposed to risk of electrical shock. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, and vibration. Loud noise level in the work environment.

Your Experience Should Be...

Required

  • Pipe welding certification
  • Ability to perform welding on various materials at required positions using different welding processes, including, but not limited to, GTAW, SMAW, FCAW, GMAW and SAW.
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • At least 2 years of related experience
  • Basic math skills
  • Attention to detail essential
  • Ability to lift and move heavy objects
  • Proven ability to identify and solve basic to moderate level problems
  • Overtime and weekend hours, as needed
  • Experience using blueprints and design sketches
  • Certification in Pipe welding

Preferred

       Familiarity with ISO procedures
  • Knowledge or experience working with Chart products
