Job Title: Tube & Pipe Cutter (TRAUB Machines, Cut-Off Department)
Universal Tube is a leading manufacturer and supplier of metal tubular components for the automotive industry. We are currently looking for self-motivated team players to join our organization. Our company is seeking a skilled Cut-Off Technician to join our team. This requires the ability to set up and operate two or more cut-off Traub's, working with hand tools, micrometers, calipers, optical comparators, and a knowledge of basic math. As a Cut-Off Technician, you will be responsible for ensuring that our machines are running smoothly and producing high-quality products.
Responsibilities and Skills include:
  • Set up, operate, and maintain single-spindle automatic Traub machines, including but not limited to changing cams, grinding cut tools, maintenance, etc.
  • Monitor 2 or more machines for mechanical problems. Initiate troubleshooting and solve mechanical problems. Perform general preventative maintenance on equipment.
  • Sharpen
    and re-set machine tooling to maintain part conformance.
  • Operate bench grinders and surface grinder to sharpen tools.
  • Makes necessary tool adjustments to keep dimensions within specified tolerances.
  • Ability to read and use micrometers, calipers, optical comparators, height gages and other quality instruments.
  • Excellent ability to work and communicate well with others.
  • Excellent problem-solving ability and attention to detail.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating machine instructions and procedure manuals.
  • Ensuring machine performs quality control plan & quality check sheets.
  • Must maintain a clean and safe work environment (work area, work benches, machines etc.)
  • Able to lift 30lbs repeatedly throughout the workday
