Job description

Pilot Driver With High Pole Experience

Olive Recruiting is searching for pilot driver with high pole experience for our specialized heavy transport client in Houston, TX. This role is responsible for guiding and ensuring the safe passage of oversized, heavy haulage vehicles across highways. Responsibilities encompass route planning, traffic management, and maintaining constant communication with truck drivers.

Responsibilities:
  • You will be an important part of the operations team and will have opportunities to learn new skills, including advanced training on the equipment
  • Loading, unloading, programming, assembling and disassembling equipment, outfitting trailers with auxiliary equipment
  • Drive pilot car equipped with signs, flags, and lights to escort oversized loads on highways and other roads
  • Communicate with the oversized load driver and other relevant parties to ensure safe transportation and arrival of the load
  • Plan and map out the most efficient route for the oversized load, taking into consideration road conditions, low bridges, and other obstacles
  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections on the pilot car to ensure it is in good working condition and report any issues to management
  • Stay up-to-date with state and federal regulations regarding oversized load transportation and ensure compliance at all times
  • Assist in loading and unloading the oversized load as needed, using proper equipment and safety procedures
  • Complete necessary paperwork and logbook entries accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Provide excellent customer service to clients and represent the company in a professional manner at all times
Job Requirements:
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
  • Experience in driving and operating a pilot car or escort vehicle
  • Ability to read and understand maps, GPS navigation, and route planning
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with clients and other drivers
  • Knowledge of state and federal regulations governing oversize and overweight loads
  • Attention to detail and ability to react quickly in case of emergencies or unexpected situations
  • Must be able to work under deadlines and to keep a large team motivated to achieving goals
  • Must be familiar with health and safety requirements for entering or operating in high-risk areas such as material handling areas and construction sites
  • OTR heavy lift/transport (Goldhofer, SPMT/PSTe, Gantry, Jack and Slide, etc) preferred
