Job description

Mechanical Assembly Technician

We design, develop and manufacture case packers and tray packing solutions for flexible and other tough-to-handle packages such as doypacks, pillow bags, and four-sided sealed bags. Built for around-the-clock operation, these solutions have a worldwide reputation for their quick change-over, flexibility, speed, and comprehensive design. We are currently seeking a Mechanical Assembly Technician at our fully climate controlled South Chesterfield, VA location to facilitate the assembly of automated machinery and conveyor systems in a fast-paced environment.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics and work instructions.
  • Use hand and power tools to fit, fasten and adjust parts with precision.
  • Assemble mechanical systems including pneumatic systems and various conveyor assemblies as instructed.
  • Maintain all 5S standards.
  • Inspect finished products for defects or inconsistencies
  • Troubleshooting assembly issues and ensuring compliance with quality standards
  • Collaborate with engineering, supervisors and other team members to meet productions goals.
  • Ensure all tools and equipment are maintained in good working condition and report any issues promptly.
  • Periodic travel may be required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education/ Experience & Basic Qualifications:

  • A minimum of a high school diploma (or equivalent) and 2 years of experience in a mechanical or production environment is required. However, a combination of experience and/or education will be taken into consideration.
  • Must have own basic tools. English and Metric tool sets are recommended. A lockable toolbox is also recommended.
  • Basic ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings and assembly instructions.
  • Basic knowledge of mechanical assemblies is required.
  • Experience in industrial automation preferred.
  • Basic computer skills required.
  • A demonstrated ability to follow instructions, make decisions, solve problems, and exercise good judgment and flexibility in an effort to maintain the schedule.
  • High attention to detail and quality is required.
  • Ability to lift 50lbs.
  • Ability to operate a fork truck
  • Good communication, organization, and interpersonal skills are required.
  • High awareness of client satisfaction level and client needs.
  • The successful candidate will have a strong work ethic and good problem-solving skills and be able to interact efficiently with others.
