Job description

Position Overview
We are exploring the launch of a dedicated Reformer Pilates program and are seeking an experienced, fully certified Lead Pilates Instructor who is interested in helping us build and run the only Reformer Pilates program in Fitchburg.
This is not simply an instructor position. We are looking for someone who can bring their Pilates expertise to the development of the program while also teaching classes and helping us recruit, train, and support additional instructors as the program grows.
The Lead Pilates Instructor would work directly with ownership to help determine the right scheduling, equipment needs, instructor staffing, and overall member experience.
This will be a part-time position, with the scope and schedule developing alongside the Pilates program.
Responsibilities
The Lead Pilates Instructor would be involved in both teaching and program development, including:
  • Teaching Reformer Pilates classes on a regular part-time schedule
  • Working with ownership to develop and launch the Reformer Pilates program
  • Providing input on the number and type of reformers and other Pilates equipment purchased
  • Helping determine appropriate class sizes and weekly class schedule
  • Recruiting and helping select additional Pilates instructors as the program grows
  • Training and onboarding instructors to create a consistent, high-quality member experience
  • Providing ongoing guidance and support to the Pilates instructor team
  • Helping evaluate member demand and adjusting programming as the program develops
Private Training Opportunity
In addition to group classes, the Lead Pilates Instructor would have the opportunity to use the Pilates studio for private and semi-private Reformer Pilates sessions.
The instructor may develop their own private training clientele within the facility, subject to an agreed-upon compensation or studio-use arrangement. This provides an opportunity to build additional income beyond scheduled group classes.
Qualifications
We are looking for someone who:
  • Holds a recognized, comprehensive Reformer Pilates certification
  • Has meaningful experience teaching Reformer Pilates
  • Is confident working independently and taking ownership of a program
  • Has strong communication and leadership skills
  • Is comfortable training, mentoring, and evaluating other instructors
  • Understands how to create safe, effective, and engaging Pilates programming
  • Is interested in helping shape a new program rather than simply stepping into an existing class schedule
Previous experience as a Lead Instructor, Master Instructor, Pilates Manager, Studio Manager, or in instructor education is preferred but not required.
What Makes This Role Different
This is an opportunity for an experienced Pilates professional to have a meaningful voice in how a new program is built at an established local gym.
The Lead Pilates Instructor will work collaboratively with ownership on decisions such as equipment, class capacity, programming, scheduling, staffing, and instructor development.
For the right person, this role offers the ability to teach, develop a team, build a private training clientele, and help create a Reformer Pilates program from its earliest stages
