These workers are responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing pipelines that transport water, gas, oil, or sewage. They often work outdoors, sometimes in challenging conditions, and must follow safety protocols. The job requires physical strength, teamwork, and sometimes specialized training or certification depending on the type of pipeline and local regulations.

To thrive as a Pipeline Inspector (often called a 'Pike'), you need a solid understanding of pipeline construction, inspection procedures, and safety regulations, usually supported by relevant certifications such as API 1169 or NACE. Familiarity with inspection tools, GIS systems, and reporting software is typically required. Attention to detail, strong communication, and problem-solving skills help inspectors identify issues and coordinate with construction teams. These skills and qualifications are critical for ensuring pipeline integrity, regulatory compliance, and environmental safety.

Job description

Can you listen?

Can you be a compassionate friend?

Can you hold a hand or give a hug?

Can you offer up to four hours of your time to a family in need?

Do you have a heart for the elderly or sick?

Hospice patients and their caregivers need your help. It doesn't take much to touch a heart and change a life, and anyone with a compassionate heart and a few free hours once a week can help.

Companionship is easy: We'll pair you up with a family who needs support. We'll help make a schedule that works for you and the family. And you'll help a family within 30 minutes of your location live better. Sit with the patient and listen to their story, or read to them, or play cards. The mental and emotional well-being of our hospice patients is extremely important to us, and volunteers are able to reach patients in a way medical staff just can't.

Some patients live alone. Others with families, some are in our inpatient care unit, or another facility, like a nursing home, assisted living facility, or personal care home. Volunteer in the environment you feel most comfortable with, and know you'll have the training you need to be a good companion.

Companions are like friends with training. You'll NEVER help with medical care like changing, feeding, or medicating patients.

Companions are needed all over Atlanta (Barrow, Bartow, Butts, Carroll, Cherokee, Clayton, Cobb, Coweta, Dawson, DeKalb, Douglas, Fayette, Forsyth, Fulton, Gwinnett, Hall, Haralson, Heard, Henry, Jasper, Lamar, Meriwether, Morgan, Newton, Paulding, Pickens, Pike, Rockdale, Spalding, and Walton counties).
