About the Role
Help others achieve their fitness goals while making a positive impact in your community! The City of Kentwood is seeking a
Personal Trainer to design and deliver safe, effective, and engaging fitness programs for individuals of all ages and ability levels.
In this role, you'll work one-on-one and in small groups to create customized workout plans, teach proper exercise techniques, and provide motivation and accountability. If you're passionate about health, wellness, and helping others succeed, this is a great opportunity to grow your career.
What You'll Do
- Assess participant fitness levels, goals, and limitations through consultations and evaluations
- Design customized exercise programs tailored to individual needs and abilities
- Demonstrate and teach proper exercise form and technique to ensure safety and effectiveness
- Motivate and support participants through coaching, encouragement, and skill modifications
- Track client progress, maintain accurate records, and adjust programs as needed
- Lead one-on-one and small group training sessions
- Maintain a clean, safe, and inclusive fitness environment for all participants
- Promote personal training services and support membership growth
- Maintain attendance records and required documentation
- Assist with fitness floor supervision, special events, and community wellness initiatives
- Provide excellent customer service and maintain a professional, team-oriented environment

About You
You're knowledgeable, energetic, and passionate about helping others improve their health and wellness. You enjoy building relationships, coaching individuals toward success, and creating a welcoming and inclusive fitness environment.
Minimum Requirements:
- At least one year of personal training experience
- At least one year of experience leading group training classes
- Or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
- Nationally recognized Personal Training Certification (NASM, ACE, ACSM, ISSA, or equivalent)
- CPR/AED and First Aid Certification
