Pay starts at $21.00 per hour and up based on experience
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening the community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The Pickleball Director will help manage and enhance the pickleball program at the Crossroads YMCA Association and provide support across all association branches, including the new Sportsplex projected to open in Fall 2025. The Pickleball Director is responsible for but not limited to assisting in program operation, program development, and growth, participant satisfaction, member and staff retention and safety, staff supervision, onboarding, training, and coaching. As a Director at the Y, you lead an environment that is inviting and serves all.
Qualifications
Minimum 2 years related experience required.
Advanced knowledge of the game of Pickleball, including a mastery of the game and the ability to teach and share the game with others.
IPTPA Certified Level I Teaching Professional or PRO Level PPR Certification, preferred or must be obtained within 90 days of hire.
Experience with pickleball software, and/or willingness to learn, use, and be proficient in managing all aspects of the software system.
Must obtain and maintain all new hire certifications required within 30 days of hire: CPR/AED & First Aid, New Leader
Orientation, and online training required. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to relate effectively with diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
Able to work independently and with minimal supervision. Must be organized and detail-oriented.
Adept computer skills in Office 365.
Ability to respond to safety issues and emergencies.
Essential Functions
Supports the association in developing a diverse schedule of year-round program activities and assists with the oversight of open skill level play, tournaments, leagues, and special events to promote the sport and build community.
Provide a safe and welcoming environment to members, participants, and guests by monitoring the designated pickleball areas and ensuring all follow pickleball rules and policies.
Assist with opening and operational support at the new Sportsplex.
Enforce member expectations which include but are not limited to using appropriate language and actions towards others.
Instruct pickleball lessons, clinics, and drill sessions on techniques, tactics, and strategies to improve participants' overall game. This includes both one-on-one lessons and group clinics for all levels.
Provide leadership to ensure Intro to Pickleball sessions are being offered association-wide.
Adheres to the organization's policies and procedures and ensures that safety procedures are followed and in compliance with state and local regulations.
Assists in recruiting, hiring, training, and development of team members.
Conducts team member feedback, corrective actions, and evaluations.
Schedules and processes payroll functions.
Supports campaign efforts and donor engagement in the community and team members.
Respond to all member and community inquiries and/or complaints promptly.
Lead by example at all times and interact with a high level of professionalism and accountability.
Performs other duties as assigned.
