Job description

CNC Programmer
Harleysville, PA
Pay: $80k - $90k
Shift: 7am to 3:30pm
Responsibilities
This role is responsible for creating CNC programs for 3-5 axis milling centers and CNC lathes to manufacture parts to required specifications using Mastercam software, along with designing fixtures and special cutting tools and providing technical support to the manufacturing floor and DFM meetings.
-Program CNC machines within the manufacturing unit and adjust machine controls and tool settings to keep dimensions within specified tolerances
-Examine machines to become familiar with tooling setup, optimizing programs for feeds/speeds to maximize production rates
-Work with machinists to troubleshoot machine and program issues as they arise
-Participate in NPI/NPT projects to meet customer expectations by creating innovative solutions
-Collaborate with suppliers to improve quality and reduce costs on machined parts and tools
-Work with external software programmers to streamline post-processing and reduce modifications at the machine or computer
-Specify new equipment needs (size, capability, tooling, fixtures, auxiliary equipment) and onboard new equipment through purchasing of required tooling and software
-Maintain a safe, clean, and orderly work area
-Order all tooling needed to complete jobs and help maintain the standard tooling supply cabinet
-Lead and participate in continuous improvement projects to maximize performance in areas such as throughput, defect rate, and on-time workload completion, including Lean/Six Sigma activities
-Deliver commitments on time per project team expectations and communicate status frequently with team members and functional managers
-Work effectively within the value stream and development teams; apply proficiency in Mastercam, manual and CNC machining processes/equipment/tool selection, G-code, and GD&T/engineering print interpretation; provide work direction to CNC operators and design custom tools
-Program new part numbers run on automation equipment (cobots, part pickers, etc.)
Required Education, Skills, and Experience
-High school diploma or equivalent
-Proficiency in Mastercam and G-code, including Lathe and Mill (4- and 5-axis Mill preferred)
-In-depth knowledge and experience with CNC machining capabilities
-Ability to interpret complex drawings, including GD&T
-Ability to work well in a team environment
-Good communication skills
-Knowledge and experience with CNC machine control systems
-5+ years of CNC programming experience
Preferred Education, Skills, and Experience
-2-4 year Engineering/Technical degree
-Vericut and Solidworks experience
