Position OverviewMust be able to work in a refrigerated environment

The Pick & Pack Assistant is responsible for accurately selecting, packing, and organizing food orders for delivery while maintaining the highest standards of food safety, quality, and operational efficiency. This role supports both hot and cold production areas and works closely with the Dispatch and Operations teams to ensure orders are complete, properly staged, and ready for on-time delivery. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and thrives in a fast-paced food production environment.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities1. Order Picking, Packing & Fulfillment (45%)
  • Read and interpret order sheets to accurately select products for customer orders.
  • Pick and pack ready-to-eat meals, hotel pans, grab-and-go items, beverages, and other food products according to order specifications.
  • Ensure all items are packed securely and organized in designated delivery bins.
  • Verify quantities and product selections before orders are staged for dispatch.
  • Maintain accuracy and efficiency while meeting production deadlines.
2. Food Quality & Order Verification (20%)
  • Inspect products for quality, appearance, and packaging integrity prior to packing.
  • Verify order accuracy against production sheets and delivery manifests.
  • Ensure hot and cold food items are maintained at proper temperatures throughout the packing process.
  • Identify and report product discrepancies, shortages, or quality concerns immediately.
  • Support corrective actions to ensure customer orders meet company standards.
3. Hot & Cold Kitchen Support / Re-Therm Operations (15%)
  • Rotate between hot and cold production areas based on operational needs.
  • Assist with retherm processes by following established heating procedures, temperature requirements, and staging guidelines.
  • Apply food safety knowledge to maintain product quality during holding and transportation.
  • Monitor food temperatures and ensure compliance with food safety standards.
  • Support kitchen teams in preparing products for delivery readiness.
4. Inventory Organization & Storage Management (10%)
  • Organize cooler, freezer, and dry storage areas according to First In, First Out (FIFO) inventory principles.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and accessible storage areas.
  • Assist with stock rotation and product staging.
  • Report low inventory levels, damaged products, or storage concerns to supervisors.
5. Food Safety, Compliance & Workplace Standards (5%)
  • Follow all company policies, GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices), food safety standards, and sanitation procedures.
  • Maintain proper personal hygiene and food handling practices at all times.
  • Adhere to workplace safety protocols and operational procedures.
  • Participate in routine cleaning and sanitation activities as assigned.
6. Teamwork & Communication (5%)
  • Collaborate closely with Pick & Pack, Production, and Dispatch teams to ensure smooth daily operations.
  • Communicate order issues, shortages, and operational concerns promptly.
  • Support teammates during peak production periods and changing operational priorities.
  • Contribute to a positive, respectful, and team-oriented work environment.
Qualifications
  • Previous food production, warehouse, catering, fulfillment, or kitchen experience preferred.
  • Ability to work in refrigerated and hot kitchen environments.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Basic understanding of food safety and sanitation practices preferred.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to company-required weight limits.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining quality standards.
Preferred Qualifications
  • NY Food Handler’s Certificate/Card

Role Details

Title: Pick & Pack Assistant

Location: East Williamsburg, Brooklyn Facility

Schedule: Monday–Friday & Sunday shifts available starting as early as 5am

Reports to: Dispatch Expediter

Compensation: $19/hr
