Job description

POSITION SUMMARY:   

To pack the proper amount of product in appropriate containers.  

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:  

  • The packer duties involve different workstations that include the following: 
  • Assembles carton boxes by folding & bending &/or taping them into place. 
  • Marks carton boxes according to product specifications. 
  • Stands by conveyor belt and picks up product and places it in appropriate container. 
  • Spot checks weight of product or that correct number of product is being placed in container. 
  • Picks up trays filled with correct amount of product and puts trays through the wrapping machine and/or taping machine. 
  • Inspects wrapped trays to make sure they are completely sealed. 
  • Picks up wrapped trays and places them in carton boxes (cases). 
  • Stacks boxes (cases) on a pallet. 
  • Whenever possible, Packers are rotated to the different positions to cross-train and for ergonomic reasons to prevent cumulative trauma injury. 
  • Report any food safety or quality problems to personnel with authority to initiate action. 
  • Follows J&J Snack Food's Food Safety Plan (FSP), the Safe Quality Food (SQF) Program, the Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and the Good Documentation Practices (GDPs). 
  • Follows all OSHA safety rules and all food safety laws and regulations. 
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Must be able to stand up entire shift, which may include overtime. 
  • Good manual dexterity & eye-hand coordination.
