Job Summary:
The RN performs under the direct supervision of the Patient Care Coordinator and is delegated an assignment by the coordinator to achieve quality patient care. The RN Staff Nurse shall implement the nursing process in an organized, systematic manner to include assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation in collaboration with the Patient Care Coordinator as evidenced by documentation in Patient Care Record, direct observation by the Patient Care Manager and patient evaluations of care and perform other job duties as assigned The RN is responsible to the Patient Care Coordinator for patient care and ultimately accountable to the Patient Care Manager.

  • Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served; also demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development and possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interprets the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age specific needs, and to provide the care needed.

  • Demonstrates skills to safely administer chemotherapy/biotherapy solutions per protocol and physicians orders.
  • Demonstrate the technical aptitude for working and troubleshooting equipment used including but not limited to traction, wound vacuum systems, sequential compression devices, continuous passive motion machines, telemetry monitoring devices, blood glucose monitoring devices, and specialty beds.
  • Demonstrates the aptitude for safely positioning and assisting patients using a variety of devices such as but not limited to abduction pillows, splints, slings, braces, neck collars, walkers, crutches and immobilizers.
  • Responds promptly to stabilize patient with acute change in conditions
  • Demonstrates ability to perform all technical skills required for the 6 patient population by rendering professional nursing care including but not limited to administering medications, starting IVs, maintenance of IV lines and ports, venipuncture, administration of blood products, patient education, sterile dressing changes, comfort care, post mortem care and performs both complex and routine treatments as ordered by physician.
  • Demonstrate ability to care for the Craniectomycrainectomy patient, Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI)TBI patient, Halo Brace device, Cerebrospinal Fluid (CSF) drainage system, application of TLSO, LSO, Thoracolumbosacral orthosis (TLSO) brace, Lumbarsacral (LSO) brace, Cervical collars.Cervical collars
  • Demonstrate ability to perform neuro checks and recognize any status changes in the patient
  • Must be able to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when handling ALL Hazardous drugs and contaminated body fluids and materials (PPE includes but is not limited to: nitrile gloves, disposable hazardous drug safe gowns, face shields, fitted tested NIOSH certified N95 respirator mask).

Graduate of a recognized accredited RN program required.
Work Experience:
One year medical/surgical nursing care preferred, but not required.
