Job description

Job Posting: Piano Repair Technician (West Chester, PA)

 

Taylor’s Music Store in West Chester, PA is a family oriented, full-line, established music store offering sales, service, rentals, and lessons and has been in business over 95 years. Taylor’s is seeking either a part time or full time Piano Repair Technician.  This position requires tuning and servicing pianos in the field plus reconditioning in-house pianos.

Responsibilities include:

·         Servicing and tuning customer pianos in their home, school, or institution

·         In-store piano reconditioning and tuning

·         With input from other technicians, establishing service and tuning schedule for in-house and field work

·         Evaluating pianos for store purchase or consignment

·         Working with General Manager to establish department priorities, goals, and problem solving

·         Addressing piano warranty problems and issues

·         Working with (and possibly training) other Taylor’s piano technicians

Preferred Skills:

·         Organized and works efficiently

·         Self-directed once priorities are established

·         Ability to trouble-shoot issues

·         Minor cabinet touch up and blemish removal

·         Action regulation, standard tuning, pitch correction tuning, repair broken strings, repair pedal lyres, general piano maintenance

·         Installation of Climate Control systems (preferred but not required)

·         Excellent people and communication skills

Job Requirements:

·         2 years relevant experience or completion of an accredited piano repair program

·         Registered Piano Technician (RPT) certificate preferred but not required

·         Valid Driver’s License

·         Must have reliable vehicle for service calls (mileage reimbursement paid)

·         Be able to lift up to 20 pounds

Compensation: Competitive market-based pay, commensurate with experience and education
